Sky Ferreira's chaotic and late show branded ‘the Willy Wonka Experience’ of gigs

On Sunday night, as her UK tour hit the O2 Ritz Manchester, fans turned on Sky Ferreira as she arrived late once again on stage. 

Rather than follow the schedule, Sky posted a photograph on her Instagram Stories warning fans that she would not be getting on stage until “after 9.30pm”. 

By the time she eventually did, fans had become impatient and wanted to know what was going on. 

In videos posted on fan sites, Sky, pictured in a zebra print jacket, was seen nonchalantly shrugging towards the audience before striding off the stage after being cut off before her set was finished. 

Fans came together to discuss Sky’s behaviour, split between their love for the singer and their growing annoyance at her ‘disrespectful’ attitude to fans who have paid money to see her perform.  Some compared it to the now infamous 'Willy Wonka Experience' in Glasgow.

Other seemed to embrace the chaos of the concert, noting that after years of the behaviour, it’s ‘expected’ of Sky at this point, and should therefore be considered ‘part of the experience’ you pay for.  source

I don't understand how some artists show up hours late to their own shows when fans are paying thousands of dollars to be there  It just doesn't compute. I guess maybe it's just extreme entitlement. Idk...

I love her but I am so over her act. I saw her last a couple of years ago and she came on stage 3 hours late all drugged out to the point that she just wasn't even making sense. I am all for artists having fun, but she's just disrespectful.

She really comes across as super messy. All those years I thought her label was to blame, but I'm starting to think that she might actually be pretty difficult to work with. I mean, how many false starts will we have to witness? Guess it's not a bad thing I couldn't make it to her Paris show. Still very impatient for her sophomore album, but after 11 years, I'm not holding my breath anymore.

these needs to start becoming a fine-able offence, people make plans and pay for what's advertised to them

it's not fair that all gets to be disrupted, a show cut short and trains missed cus the artist was too busy sniffing lines to be on time

She's been trying to release one (called Masochism) for the past decade. Downhill Lullaby and Don't Forget were both supposed to be lead singles to kickstart the era, but both fell through and never saw any promotion or music video release. Her label were apparently refusing to back/release the project, and now that she's independent, she might have to re-record or start over

thats so disappointing. i wonder why they refused to back/release it???? don't forget is so good i still listen to that like weekly! we were robbed of a decade of artistic output from her... so sad

Oh I saw her last year in Primavera Sound and it was TERRIBLE I stopped being a fan at least of her as an artist (still a fan of her songs, if that makes sense)

I'm a big fan but I saw her in new york in the summer at a festival and she was like 30-45 minutes late and I ended up having to leave early to catch my train. Idk what her deal is with playing live

I love Sky but she’s kind of a mess  I’m lucky at my show she only had a couple of mishaps but I can’t imagine what these fans must be feeling like.
