I think dolly released that song back in 1973 ma’am .

Pronounced like “Balenciaga” . Emphasis on the “Ga”

Thanks!! Modern feminism is so mean spirited imo and this was just one exhibit. We’re disrespecting the classics now because they’re not in line with woke ideology. I swear the world was a much better place before all this woke washing none sense. Not everything has to be so deep and overthought.

I'm sorry woke washing

Wolf Boy

Good lord it’s an old skool track about a woman frustrated by another woman around her man, it’s not this big deep thing  with some commentary on gender roles or some crap. It’s just Dolly venting on a cute country bop.

Big disagree, the opposite actually. In Dolly's Jolene, there is admiration for Jolene and a call for solidarity. One's own insecurity is being acknowledged. Beyonce did away with all of that. It feels like an uncomfortable masking of one's own insecurity...

I've never understood why women (And men I guess) view themselves as in compeition with people of the same sex to retain their partner. Like instead of telling Jolene you better not take my man, shouldn't you be telling your man that he better value you? I'm not getting it

Beyoncé is trash talking women who “want” her man……. Seems more anti feminist than dollys actually cuz seems like she’s blaming the mistress and not her husband………..

Gurl get out of my ass. You literally started throwing insults and assumptions towards me cause I used the term “woke washing” in reference to Joy from the view dissing Dolly’s song (an lgbt icon btw lol). Where on earth is your name or business implied? So excuse me if I defend myself from your bs and you end up having an identity crisis over it.

Ok...

Gurl chill

The only getting pressed about this seems to be you my previous comments have been me either calmly defending myself or making an observation with no intent to offend or harm I'm sorry if me saying you using the term woke washing makes you seem like a Trump supporter pisses you off I was simply trying to tell you how you came off it is a term used by far right bigots when they see added diversity or the removal of offensive language in a form of media for example Gaga switching up the lyrics when she performed BTW at jazz and piano last year or when a queer character is added to a TV show

Furthermore I did not have an identity crisis from your comments I do not where we got that from it seems we are screaming into the void

If you want to I'm open to debating this subject in a civilised mmanner but pls refrain from acting so immature and defensive

Hmm I think it’s too late to chill,

that should have been your first instinct before lashing out at a stranger and calling them a far right trump supporter out of nowhere when the main context was me defending Dolly.

It is not my fault if you’ve seen me use a term you saw misused elsewhere or used by truly offensive people. The fact you immediately grouped me and categorized me in your mind leaves no room for maturity or a civilized discussion. And that’s on you.

The identity crisis is you making this way more political than it needs to be which was one of the points I mentioned in my original post you desperately took offense to. People who wanna argue for the sake of arguing think they can just dish digs and then say chill. No gurl, I’ll give it right back to you, then we can move on to more important matters.

Defending Dolly by using a right wing dog whistle used to attack our community?
