Lady Gaga, Amy Winehouse letters to Tony Bennett offered at auction

A collection of letters, photos and more from the late Tony Bennett will go up for sale via Julien’s Auctions on April 18.

Julien is representing Tony Bennett 's estate. 
His son, Danny Bennett, said he found the letters along with hundreds of other memorabilia items that his father left in a storage unit in New York. 
”It’s better than having it all in a closet somewhere,” Danny Bennett said about the auction . “It belongs to the people.”

The trove of items includes rarities addressed to Bennett from stars like Lady Gaga, Amy Winehouse, Madonna, Martin Scorsese, Robert De Niro, Quincy Jones and Barbra Streisand, among others. The priciest item — an estimated $20,000 to $30,000 — is a typewritten thank you letter from Martin Luther King Jr. to Bennett dated April 5, 1965.

I know it's not exactly uncommon after a celebrity passes, but it still feels kind of weird seeing intimate items going up for sale at auction.

This is so strange. I've bid on prop items before but this feels too intrusive. I wonder if Gaga will try and buy something back for herself. They're selling these as well:

It would be great if Gaga were to buy them. I mean, it’s something special that she shared with Tony, so it would be good to keep it… this is still so weird to see and definitely intrusive

no, me too. Its sad but this happens to all celeb stuff. Like 2-3 weeks later after Carrie Fisher died, her whole house was auctioned off. Very sad.
