Almost 8 years later and fans are still confused about the concept of this album.

She stated in an interview that Joanne falls somewhere in thr middle with Stefani & Gaga on the side.

I think JW/DIC/PI are the Gaga representation of the album.

Kinda hope she brings them back next tour. They go hard live!

side note: I'm still confused about "AYo" representation so we'll discuss that one another day :huntyga:

As much as I love these 3 songs they add absolutely nothing of substance to the main concept of the album. :franminervini:

In the sense that yk-

The main concept of the album thematically revolves around family/ personal connections, social values in her pov and political statements.

These 3 songs take the furthest route from the main theme of the album just imo.

Again, love the songs.

Well john wayne actually is one of the few songs that really makes me understand the Joanne concept.
As she craves this bad boy, and shes referring to an older figure and a cowboy. It always gave me daddy issues in a very pop way.

DIC is very personal, you know... rubbing down there when you feel lonely
PI is about heartbreak

Sorry but I don't think she had a concept for this album and thought of one when all was said and done. The only albums I think she actually had a concept for and wrote towards were BTW and Chromatica.

Yes. Unique topics on their own but besides blending in sonically, is distant from what other songs talk about.

But ofc if we want to force thematical connections, there's no Gaga song that can't be forced into other albums.

Million Reasons and Just Dance both has Gaga singing about being hopeful about overcoming a difficult situation but you wouldn't say Just Dance follows the concept of Joanne would you? :udidnt:

Still my favorite Gaga album. Many of the raw vocals still give me goosebumps — and perfect illusion is my go to.
