nodandsmile 9,935
Why the hell is "The Boy Is Mine" not a single yet? this sounds like an easy smash!!!
Nathaniel Arven 1,636
the albums feels so solid r now... the songs are late 90's early 00's etc, with a fresh flair underlying. I think it's a subtle record with more growers than instants hits. But it's so so soulful and the technique (i must admit i gave it a listen straight from the macbook air speakers (not even pro)) feels amazing. the points i love : the grooviness / smoothiness harmonics feel efficient. just the song needs. i think there is something clever over there.. arrangements are so sleakk! OKay i have to go and plug speakers... Edited March 8, 2024 by Nathaniel Arven

Bling 31,285
Love Ari as a person and a lot of her music but the last 2 albums have not been it for me. She has one of the best voices of our generation, and she continues to not take risks in what she writes about or her sound. It's always: I love you so much, I wish I didn't, you have a girlfriend but I want you, I'm sweet but sexy and a freak in the bed, etc etc No Depth. Also, the trap beats are done. Can we retire them now? Tbh the album has some ICONIC 90's sonic references like to Missy Elliott and Aaliyah, and if the rest of the album dropped the trap beats and incorporated more 90's vibe it would've been much better. Vocally, she sounds great and crisp, but she isn't singing to her full potential here. Not sure why, she can belt and it just feels so subdued. There are some good tracks but nothing great. The singles are the standouts... This would have been a cute EP or something but not strong enough for a full album if she's riding the wave of publicity she has received for her personal life, not to mention her big Wicked debut. Perhaps she is saving the best for that soundtrack. Tldr: The production and vocals are 10/10 but that's about the best I can say for this album. More of the same themes, lyrics, trap etc. Was hoping for artistic growth from Miss Ari, but maybe the next album she won't feel forced to sing about relationships again. Kayi 1,777
I listened it fully it's a really beautiful album, this album is far better than what I excepeted. to me this album is far, far, far better compared to Position. The production is amazing. I'm here to take a break from university homeworks :/
Noah 26,751
I can't take anyone who says this Album is full of Trap Beats serious, outside of maybe 3 Songs - there are none. ⟡ ⋆ ˚。⋆🦢⋆ ˚。⋆⟡ 1
Anderson123 36,439
I need to listen to this album a couple more times before decide if I like it or not because it still feels like this chill experience from start to finish with Yes And? as the only upbeat song in the middle. I'm not an R&B expert but I assumed it'd be a nod to that with the first music video, kind of a Janet/Madonna homage. I was hoping it'd have a couple more upbeat stuff in there with Max Martin as the producer but this is still cool. With every Ariana album is always the singles + one or two album tracks I keep listening to and then I never listen to the rest. This is probably going to be the same but I like that it's short so it kind of flows better and doesn't drag for long. River 108,197
Listening to it now, it is definitely a Max Martin kind of album, not pushing boundaries, kinda safe, but still fun to listen to, his a hit machine and that's enough for the album, after like 35 years of listening to his productions, his sound just feels too familiar. His fart felt like a kiss

I’m currently on my fifth listen and the songs really do start to stand out and grow over the course of several listens. The album is very cohesive for the most part. It feels like a mature record for a thirty-something crowd and as a 33 year old listener I can really appreciate that. stand outs: Supernatural Bye We Can’t Be Friends Imperfect For You The Boy Is Mine I think everyone was expecting a dance/house record after “Yes, And?” dropped. 4 1

I like a lot of what you said but I'm 34 and I can't take a lot of her lyrics seriously. This is her first album in her 30's and with lyrics like: Bye-bye Boy, bye Bye-bye It's over, it's over, oh yeah Bye-bye I'm takin' what's mine, yeah Bye-bye It's over, it's over, oh yeah I'm just like I think she sounds very warm vocally but lyrically there's been little to no growth over 7 albums (11 years) discord.gg/hausofmayhem 1 Year and 1000+ Members!

I’m not very well-versed in her albums. I guess (for me) it feels sonically more mature if that makes sense. I should’ve clarified. As someone who has really only listened to her singles I’m not sure how this album stacks up sonically to her other records, but in terms of what I’ve heard from her in the past, sonically, it feels more adult. Correct me if I’m wrong though. Edited March 8, 2024 by bowlsofbrett
