The songs sound like outtakes from FN, just like her re-release songs and Dance The Night.

no, they don't. they literally do not sound the same :saladga:

I'm so tired of seeing this lazy take that everyone is just throwing around

Maybe this is a hot take, but I’m actually really into this new era. It’s refreshing to have psychedelic-leaning, vibey ‘pop’ music instead of big explosive dance floor hits that follow the pop formula. It’s why I love the diversity of Gaga’s discography, you have something to fit most moods.

I’d agree that Dua’s new music lacks those peaks and valleys and hooks that make for a strong pop record, but I also feel Dua’s artistry is not aligned with that either so these type of songs make more sense to me. She’s not a belter and that’s very okay. These new tracks feel production-forward over lyricism and vocals, and I personally am a fan of Tame Impala so it’s fun to dance along to what they’ve created together. I’d compare it to von Dutch in a way, Charli is kinda of repeating the same thing for the whole track and you just dance along to it.

now THIS is a take I can get behind & totally agree with.

this psychedelic pop vibe for her sounds so good, especially with the live instrumentation in the production!

Pretty much what you guys want her is controversy, which in a last interview she said she will stay away from it.. gays love to claim someone is boring if they don’t cause controversy.

Where did I say I wanted controversy? Lmao. Taylor Swift is largely uncontroversial and yet her fans cling onto her image and narrative because they feel connected to her (the same cannot be said for Dua Lipa)

lol I can tell by your response that you must be pushing 22 or younger.

Kesha has SEVERAL number one hits. Her debut single was Tik Tok, and then had We R Who We R, and Timber. She had 6 other top ten hits, was featured on the number one hit Right Round by Flo Rida, and wrote a massive hit for Britney.

In comparison, Dua only had 5 US top 10 singles.

Charts aren’t everything, of course, but these numbers are clearly indicators of her success, which Dua is yet to tap.

Kesha was MASSIVE in 2009-2014, so school up kiddo

Kesha was popular in like 2010-2012 but she was always more B tier compared to Gaga, katy, rihanna during her peak. Dua is way more popular, she has 15 top tens and 4 number ones in the UK

It's really not lazy. I can detect distinct sonic similarities between her new work and FN. If you played those songs amongst the album, I wouldn't bat an eyelid. Houdini sounds like a pared-down version of Physical (but not as good) and Training Season reminded me somewhat of Break My Heart. Where is this psychadelica that's been bandied about? Genuine psychadelica I've heard is much more experimental than this. This is classic pop and part of a style that Dua has made her own. There seems to be 2 factions on this issue of whether her work sounds recycled or new and both sides are feeling gaslit. We truly won't be able to say for sure until the album comes out.

What I was referencing, was that Kesha ALSO had her debut single hit number one, just like Gaga, Beyoncé, & Katy, but I guess some of y’all missed that and need a history lesson. :ohwell:

Also, Kesha’s TikTok was 2009, and Timber was 2014.

I like both songs but she should’ve waited til now to release the lead single. How do you release Houdini in November right before Christmas songs take over? And she still teased it like “Miss me?” Like Sis when did you leave, Dance The Night is playing everywhere.

My thoughts exactly. Houdini and TS sound nothing like anything on Future Nostalgia.

EGOT2027

i really don’t understand what’s happening. training season is pop perfection and dua has been slaying these performances. she’s doing something pop stars don’t do anymore. i guess maybe i just answered my own question

In 2019, you guys all said she was boring and had nothing for her, and the minute she posted a teaser for Don’t Start Now, you started treating her like a goddess out of nowhere.

Then in 2023 she released Houdini and you all said it was bad/boring and then you heard the Training Season snippet and said it sounded fabulous. Now that the song is out, you say it’s boring and that Houdini is great.

I think you need sugar or something :ladyhaha:

I feel like most people were saying Houdini wasn’t a good lead, and is still not great but at least better than TS lol
