How major is this ruling? Does it actually prevent illinois from putting him in the ballot or is it just one of those lower court rulings that end up being an opinion but dont actually force anything?

This is not an opinion. As in other states, it will be appealed before he can actually be removed.

It will be ultimately decided by the Supreme Court which recently just heard the CO case

Biden's winning Illinois regardless so it effectively has no impact on the election but it's nice to see continued challenges to Trump's run

This is really just a gesture I think. SCOTUS have already heard the Colorado case, and although they haven't made a ruling yet the experts were pretty much unanimous that the line of questioning during that hearing indicated that SCOTUS would overturn the Colorado ruling. So actually banning Trump from ballots under the 14th amendment is unlikely to becone a thing.

Yea it’s mostly just a gesture methinks but hey, if they wanna make one better it be this than something else lol
