I’m sorry but did we ever think Gaga was a socialist or communist?? She’s a business woman obv she’s capitalist why are we shocked? Also I don’t even understand why this statement is so bad, it’s literally a fact lmao

edit: no one has any right to criticize this statement if they’ve purchased her music, concert tickets, merch etc…and we all have. This alone proves exactly what she said.

Also not yall mentioning ARTPOP in this context, its LITERAL inspiration is Andy Warhol’s art 💀💀 aka one of the first artists saying that art and capitalism are not mutually exclusive 😭😭😭

Andy Warhol was making a critique on it tho

She always believed this from the start, and so does many other music artists. This is nothing new from her.

But I do wish she didn't say it so explicitly, though. :franminervini:

I would love for everyone to stop pretending like the starving artist lifestyle is something they aspire to have. Because honestly we all want to be financially successful. And if the opportunities for making money were there off your art you all would take it. We all know how starving artists suffered and only had an appreciation be received after they died.

Y’all arguing over this when she basically confirmed she used to be a pop star?

What a departure from 2015-Ga..

i disagree. she had a perfume deal in her contract likely, but was able to turn it into something with integrity like the fame perfume.  Haus Labs is great and exists now because of the tech behind it which Gaga has always been passionate about. She’s inventing things and i think that’s great.

Uhhmmmm, I'm confused. Why are you acting as if she said she chooses money over art?

At this point in her career, I'm happy Gaga accepted the fact that art needs funding. That doesn't mean she's a money making machine, that means she understood that to express herself artistically in the way she wants too, she need a whole lot of money, so she found a way to produce that money through something that she's passionate about and that has helped her grow as an artist (make up). She's saying no to those who exploited her to get money from her talent and using that energy to make money for herself instead and to fund her artistic vision.

Of course it’s not something to aspire BUT even without hauslabs or ads she IS financially succesful? If that opportunity crossed my way of course I’d take it because I’m not Gaga. Don’t act like gaga was broke and just took the opportunity. :air:

and for the last sentence, Gaga is primarily an artist, selling make up won’t make her more appreciated but releasing her art for the world to see surely might!

Let's try to keep everything in perspective, ladies.

We all like Lady Gaga... but none of us are friends with her IRL, or know about her private business dealings/motivations. We can disapprove/feel disappointed (f*ck the tesla), but we all want each other to be happy. Right?

I just need these little monstrosities to keep this anti-capitalist energy and not give her their money next time she tours so I can get good tickets without having to fight Hunger Games style.
