9 Years Since Gaga Changed Her Career Forever

9 years ago, the trajectory of Gaga’s career changed forever. I’ll truly never forget the week this happened. I was getting texts from friends, my parents, people I hadn’t spoken to since middle school, racist uncles……all saying “you were so right about her.” Back in middle school, I remember fighting for my life defending Gaga as talented…only to be vindicated in the end. Taste always comes out on top!! Truly unbelievable that I used to be the one screaming into the void like, “No Lady Gaga can sing!! Watch her piano performances,” and now even GP people who don’t like her are like, “She’s insanely talented but too much for me.”

And the way she’s grown so much vocally even since this!!!!!!!

i remember the night this happened thinking “maybe she will get a super bowl one day.” that was always the blue sky dream that i had for her. 

and to think that’s in the upcoming 9 years she would get a super bowl, sing for presidents, become an acclaimed jazz singer, get vegas shows, become a movie star, and so much more

I just thought about this a few days ago myself, her reinvention is one for the history books. Girly was about to fade into obscurity before she played one last card which was her talent. She did every tribute performance under the sun during those few years, transitioned into acting and made the best decisions possible with that too. I mean ASIB was God sent, HOG was THEE perfect choice as a follow up to showcase more of her acting chops ( I still cannot believe she got all that praise for her role just to be snubbed at the Oscars because the voters probably thought she was the most popular choice and would get a nomination regardless of their vote so they went with someone else... ) and now Joker... this string of acting gigs is INSANE, I just hope she delivers an amazing pop record as good as her earlier work this year and everything’s perfect in my book. She’s a living legend and that EGOT IS COMING!!!

I remember watching this on a pixelated live stream and being so blown away, and just having a feeling in my gut that things were about to change, and this was a special moment for her and her career. This and the VMAs Paparazzi performances had that same 'people are now going to recognise her for what she can do' feeling

why am i tearing up at this!!

 

reminds me of a similar (but different) feeling i had while watching the ASIB oscar performance live. i think in that moment it really hit me how much things had changed for my queen in the few years leading up to that. the audrey hepburn look made it really hit me…she was finally a legend.  

i remember my mom texting me the morning after she won, “it’s so nice to see gaga finally get the prestige recognition she deserves”

I remember it was all over the news and radio that she was the highlight of the Oscars.

A youtube video shot up at the top of trending with millions of views (sadly taken down).

I still watch this performance with the roaring applause and standing ovation.
