I dont think Shallow really benefited from Bradley's fanbase. (did benefit a lot from the movie and the whole oscar thing)

StrawberryBlond 14,197
Really surprised that the UK public made this popular. If there was one country that I thought wasn't going to get behind this, it would be my own, we can only withstand country in its most pop form with most country artists who tour here only going to London and that's it because we just don't get the genre like America, Canada and Australia does. It looks like, along with Stick Season, this song will be leading the charge of introducing the UK to a country sound for a while, which I never thought possible. And for all that Dua was right behind her initially, to see her debut at #4 was more than a bit surprising in a week with so little competition. It's a big shock to see her new era rolling out so disappointingly after the glory years she's had since 2020. Her team must be wondering what they can possibly do. The rollout is long, just like last time. We've had 2 lacklustre singles now and we still don't know the new album's name, cover art, tracklist, release date and no tour announced. Clearly, it was expected that these were going to be such mega hits that this info wouldn't need to be revealed just yet but it clearly does. If this were a smaller name or a debut artist, the album would probably be scrapped and it would be time to go back to the drawing board but Dua can't do that, she's made it very clear the album is done and there must be touring plans happening behind the scenes, there's no going back now, she just has to face the world with this upcoming album with no major hits yet. Unthinkable in late 2023 but the reality now. 23 hours ago, Chlorine Sevigny said: And it's a solo song, which Gaga hasn't reached #1 with since Bad Romance Why would you hold that against her? A #1 is a #1. If collabs where you're only a guest feature count as your #1 (I don't count it but it seems like everyone else does) then a #1 song where you are the leading artist should definitely hold weight regardless of who else is on it. How do you view rappers? Most of their hits have feature verses. Is it not a good achievement when they go #1 because they're not solo?
TheOriginalOne 9,641
So proud of Beyoncé, and the doors Gaga open by inventing country music with her 2016 release of Joanne. A #1 for both queens! In a way, I suppose, strangely, if you think about it, this is the telephone sequel, in a sense.
