The Bad Romances, the Heavy Metal Lovers, Bloody Marys, Just Dances, Poker Faces, Paparazzis, Government Hookers, etc. However, I realize that part of those songs’ appeal was her mysterious aura at the time. She was slinky and bizarre. She wielded a "disco stick" and she danced like a malfunctioning robot. If she were to make those same songs now, they would feel stilted & inauthentic. Not because she isn't as talented anymore, but because we know more about her as a real person now. There is no more hiding behind “up-and-coming pop singer” smoke and mirrors. That’s not a bad thing. It’s to be expected. Her strangeness served a purpose and propelled her into the stratosphere. Now she has the luxury of making music (and makeup and booze 👀) that she is passionate about. The more power to her! We should want good things for her, in return for all that she has given us. She was a character and part of the hard reality she had to face was letting go of her TF and TFM persona and people not caring that much about the human being and the artist. All that "we want the old Gaga back" must've been so hurtful because there wasn't such thing as an old Gaga, Gaga is every character she has created to express herself artistically, and people rejecting her art because it wasn't like the first persona she created is what I think made her realize she had to show the human and the artist behind the character. Lots of people lost interest in Gaga once they realized she was just human. The most interesting thing in Gaga for the GP back then was how mysterious she was. She was almost "not human" and that made her something fascinating, something you wanted to decipher. Once she deciphered herself in front of our eyes and showed the human being behind the personas she had created, all the mystery was gone. I'm glad she did that, though. We got to see she is a beautiful and talented human being who is vulnerable and emotional. I think she gets to be happier being free from those characters the public expect her to be and is able to express herself with artistic freedom. What we know, since she always mentioned it in interviews during earlier of her career and/or based on available evidence: - She is Italian - Her family makes good meatball pasta - She doesn't consider her family is wealthy - Her parents own an apartment with balcony in middle of Manhattan - She went to private Catholic all girl school where The Hiltons & Kennedys kids enrolled in too - Already showed penchant in music and performing early - Bullied cos she was artsy and seen as doing too much by other students - Cynthia bought her mini grand piano when she sees Gaga is good with it - Active as theater kid during school - Casted as laughing student extra in popular HBO Show, The Sopranos - Casted as contestant for MTV Boiling Point - Casted as main talent for PSA against sexual harrasment in campus/school/uni - Dropped out of Tisch to pursue a professional music career, with resistance from her dad - And her dad said if she doesn't become famous in 2 years, she need to go back to school, while helping her foot the bills for her rent - Recorded and released indie album in March 2006 (she was 20yo), during this time she was SA'd by a producer and got her pregnant, which she chose to abort. (She mentioned she was SA'd when she was 19) - Got signed to DefJam soon after, (Sept 2006), recorded some demos, but then dropped 3 months after, during Christmas time, cos the CEO doesn't feel Gaga matches with DefJam vibes. - Signed by Interscope one year after, (November 2007) - Recorded and released Just Dance soon after (April 2008), was a song recorded as demo for PCD, but PCD passed on it, so Gaga decided to sing it herself. - Just Dance originally featured only Akon and was sent to radio before Interscope decided to go against it, recalled that version and rerecording it with Colby O'Donis instead - Initially the song is not hit with people, she had to toured the night club in USA & Canada the whole year of 2008, before the song finally catches on with the locals in January 2009, giving Gaga her first #1 Billboard Hot100 song and the rest is history - Admire Madonna, Beyoncè & Britney. Her love doesn't reciprocate for Madonna at first. She viewed Gaga as her rival instead.
