Unfortunately I think the song will peak at #2

Predicted to go #1 next week based on the early predictions. Could change, but it's consistently growing each day (had it's best streaming day yet yesterday I believe).

Awww a fan? :teehee:

I simply called it trash. And with lines like

"Pull up in the trenches like Columbine"

"Let her suck the ****, said she was a pro
If she scrape her teeth, I'ma tell her to go"

"Now I'm Ye-Kelly, bitch, now I'm Bill Cosby, bitch"

"I'm 'bout to nut on her body and tell the ho leave, 'kay"

What would you call that? A church hymn? You relax...

Surprise dropping self-titled on a Friday before they changed the schedule? Not putting Lemonade on Apple Music or Spotify for ages? That woman does not care about getting #1's.

Yeah I think a #1 is cool but I think impact matters more. Like commercial impact. I think for someone like Beyoncé, chasing #1s is kinda a saturated game. It’s done and played. Her quest is more like how can I find another way to have massive commercial impact beyond that? Even with this, she wanted her statement to be the Super Bowl. Arguably an event she’s damn near synonymous with at this point AND the most watched thing in America. It hurts tracking, sure, but I think to Parkwood, the pay off of the song getting that kind of press is better than waiting for the tracking days. To have every article saying “announced off hand in Super Bowl ad then it was released” sounds a lot better than “released the Friday before the Super Bowl” lmao. Also an interesting challenge bc she clearly is coming for the commercial game this cycle, but with the 3 acts being so close together, she’s got a unique challenge to make the marketing of each feel creative and unique.

i think it’s clear that her main concern is not scoring a cheap hit but having an era make lasting impact. Placing high on the charts is part of that to kick things off right, but it’s waaaaay not the total picture here and hasn’t been since self-titled. Like even look at her setlists. They tend to tone down her biggest hits in favor of propping up songs that did okayish at best for the sake of making a *moment*. I think of how she revived countdown and has used Diva and run the world. Nooone of those made *huge impact but she brings them into the sets to reinterpret them and as a result has actually made them iconic after the fact. Diva, for instance, only peaked at *19* on the hot 100 in 2008 during Sasha fierce, her biggest commercial era. Thats basically a flop for her in context lol yet she said I’m gonna make it a STAR of homecoming and renaissance where now it’s one of the most circulated clips of both shows.

i think beyonce is in this position of wanting to establish mainstream relevance while positioning her catalog as relevant and iconic. Shes trying to firm up *legacy by selecting songs both hit and deeper cut that she can use to establish herself as an icon, not just a hitmaker. This differs from most others trying to get #1s imo.
