Russia just announced that Alexej Nawalny, the leader of the Russia Anti-Putin political opposition, has died in their prison.

EDIT 1:

Russia's opposition leader and most prominent Putin critic Alexei Navalny "lost consciousness" and died, Russian officials have said. Navalny was serving a prison sentence in a remote Arctic penal colony.

What we know so far

"The medical staff of the institution arrived immediately, and an ambulance team was called," the prison service said.

"All necessary resuscitation measures were carried out, which did not yield positive results. Doctors of the ambulancestated the death of the convict."

"The causes of death are being established.

Although an ambulance arrived and "all necessary resuscitation measures" were used, he died.

He dared to oppose Putin... suffered a great deal cause of it. Unfortunately nothing changed, it only got worse. Brave man, may he rest in peace now.

Magic Mike

Putin made an example of Navalny, so that opponents know exactly what to expect. He tried to kill him at one time, poisoning him, and when he survives and returns, he gives him a slow and announced death, at the hands of the regime. That's Russia. Don't congratulate the resistance of the Russian people, because the Russian people don't hate Putin. If that hadn't been the case, the man had already left. No dictator can last this long without the connivance of his own people.

RIP. He was very courageous.

Honestly what's troubling is that we have millions of right-wingers in this country who keep simping for Putin and want a leader like him to run this country.

RIP.

and for those saying people in Russia like Putin, you’re generalizing. My friend’s family lives there and they all can’t even discuss anything negative about Putin over the phone or text etc out of fear. Idk their situation but my friend fled the country to America once her bff (who’s a lesbian) was treated the way she was. She had to flee to UK. My friend escaped and says we have no idea how scary Russia is. She just became a U.S. citizen! So grateful she doesn’t live there anymore

Damn. It was inevitable I guess but so fvckibg awful.

He was so brave and people who have that kind of conviction to try and make things better make me emotional. He probably could have fled Russia and been safe at one point but he never gave up. I hope he’s at peace now.

He was a pretty bad guy based on his racist statements but he was also brave AF to go up against Putin and to want proper democracy for Russia....I dont know how to feel about him...I just know I didn't like his racism but I do know that killing your political opponent is one of the weakest things a leader can do. Putin is in shambles.

Girl  please if you're judging someone by what they said a long time ago, rather than their brave advocacy in recent years, it's such a reductive understanding of politics.

Don't look up the horrible things Biden said ("racial jungle" comments, predators etc..).

Don't look up what Hillary Clinton, Obama etc used to say about Gay marriage.

People can change for the better. And as long as they do, no reason to continue to hold them by the standard of their past.

So predictable, he's not the first neither the last political opponent murdered by P**** . Navalny was certainly courageous but strategically he should have stayed outside Russia after that infamous murder attempt by poisoning, he'd still be alive as a prominent activist and may be enliven an actual, efficient opposition to the d*** head in the Kremlin.
