Sorcerer 11,849
Yes, and it's not because she invented country-pop albums or something. If released today, songs like John Wayne and DIC could've smashed. Million Reasons would be one of her most successful songs. She just wasn't a streaming force and massive on social media yet during the Joanne era. Edited February 12 by Sorcerer
GagaGame 2,758
Absolutely not. A lot of other artists were doing the same as Gaga; a more personal album, not country but being real with themselves. LG7? CANCELLED

Red 93,722
And just to clarify, it’s not because it wasn’t ahead of its time that it means it is a bad album. No album has the need to reinvent the music industry to be worthy of our time. If you see me posting like crazy, I'm either bored or procrastinating. 2
Ziggy 10,721
Mmm nah. Honestly I think aesthetically it was more impactful and ahead than musically. She brought Gaga sensibility for creating iconography to an aesthetic that wasn’t quite considered iconic in pop yet. Musically, the album is actually not that different from her other stuff but its production sometimes leans one way or the other. But a country pop album it is not. But she *sold it as one*. She *sold it* as her troubadour moment and we bought into that. I think her marketing aesthetics were ahead of their time or at minimum, served as mile marker for a moment in time. G U C C I 5,372
No it wasn’t ahead of its time just unexpected for her by the general public. Had the record been executed better and leaned harder into the Sinners Prayer & John Wayne vibes for all the songs (with the exception for Million Reasons and Joanne) it would have been one of her very best cohesive albums and ventured far more into country territory.
