Like, I’ve never used the phrase “touch grass” before seeing so many grown ass adults throwing temper tantrums on Twitter and IG over a stupid AD lol She was promoting one of the shadiest firm there is with this partnership... Still can't get how monsters can say disliking that is just about being too much of a drama queen.
GAGASEXUAL 3,483
It was the first time I've ever thought "Maybe it's time to move on after 15 years of being a Little Monster". She needs to change her team or it's over I think. 7

I wasn’t referring to the people who had valid criticisms over Gaga selling out to big pharma, I was referring to the fans who were calling her a POS, fake ally, throwing their Chromatica merch in the trash, etc. 1
killme89 1,275
Cringe 100%, I have close friends with years of history of loving Gaga that were so turned off because of this ad
Future Lovers 6,545
I'm not really one for debating the usefulness or not of the medication. That's sort of overall irrelevant to the issue for me. My issue is that I don't think celebrities should be promoting pharmaceuticals period, full stop. I don't care what their relationship to the medication is or what their reasonings are, it's just not something that a person with influence ought to be doing. Regular ads for medications are touch and go but I see their purpose and I can see where they could be beneficial. But when you throw a celebrity endorsement into the mix, it to me begins to grow very distasteful. Celebrities pushing general products like makeup and beverages is a tale as old as time, but celebrity endorsement of medication can get to be dangerous. I don't think we should ever aim to make a medication look "cool" or trendy in the same way we do a piece of clothing or a drink. Getting people to inquire or buy your medicine because their favorite celebrity said they should take it is just not the move. These commercials need to be kept strictly to fact and their proper use without someone famous trying to peddle it, especially to their fanbase. Keep celebrities out of medicine. That is a space for doctors and patients to discuss together, not for famous people to try and play influencer in. 5
InTheCloset 17,784
How much money she probably made from it? Its a big pharma and she is a superstar so i hope she made tons Where's the spunk, Adam?

If you can't afford the medicine, you are **** out of luck. This medicine without insurance is $1,000 for a pack of 8. yeah but its not like everyone who suggests a medicine to someone is promoting big pharma's greediness "I hope that you will love me in this way For who I am—not then—but for today"

I really wish she could create a secondary account for that (or focus 90% of the makeup posts there if there's already another account). it's really annoying because 99% people are following her for the music, art, even fashion, but makeup? yeah lovely brand and cruelty free but make it a different account In no way am I defending HL because I’m not here for it as much as you, however, everything she posts regarding HL is literally the stuff she has to post regarding HL. The 90% of makeup posts about the HL brand is on the Haus Labs social media pages. The only thing I could say was kind of unnecessary of her to post was the video she made during one of the EU TCB shows showing how long wearing the lipstick was. Pretty much everything else is just announcements of new products and then when they’re released she’ll do another post about them.

She signed a deal with them to use her image, and her star power to drive interest and views in their products through their media and advertisements. That's called a brand deal. For a medicine. It is slimy. She doesn't recommend them out of the goodness of her heart. Edited February 11, 2024 by Agunimon
Oriane 19,849
I don't care that she's doing ads for whatever brands. But as someone from the UE, it will always be weird to me that the US has as for prescription drugs. Natalia Kills 373
This never bothered me, most of Gaga’s work has been to make money minus the philanthropy. It’s just less true to the “genuine” image she tried to create earlier on in her career. Money matters to Gaga, and that’s ok.

United States and I think New Zealand are the only ones that legally can. Since they can do it here, drug companies dump a ton of money into marketing. They know they can make profit if they advertise to the people and not the Drs. I think Gaga signing a deal with them and taking the money to help them promote it is still part of their plan. You are correct that just suggesting a medicine isn’t promoting it but signing a deal and taking their money to do it is completely different.
