I'm not convinced about this last one (unless it's been confirmed). They're both very generic Breakbeats that are used by thousands of artists.

It's called the Amen Break and very often sampled, especially in UK Garage music, Drum and Bass and more

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Amen_break

This break has been used and sampled in 600+ songs

She also used to have a phrase for each album that she would repeat

"Cherry cherry boom boom" for The Fame

"I'm a free b*tch, baby" for The Fame Monster

"Baby we were born this way" for BTW (obs lol)

Just "ARTPOP" for ARTPOP and I dk if she had any in Joanne and Chromatica

I'm fine, Ta

Roughhouse Dandy

I'm sure it's not unknown, but I've never seen it mentioned: the other voice (that's not Will.i.am) on Fashion is a RuPaul sample, which is why they had a duet together in the Muppets special 🥰

This is my Hannah Montana™️ lipgloss.

Melodean

The chants in Teeth is inspired by Native American music similar to this one

The synth stems in Alice come from Freed From Desire

This is what I led me to creating this discussion thread. I did not know Schiese has a slight interpolation of "Ladies Night" (Kool & the gang). A tiktok was posted talking about the layers between the two tracks, but I think it was removed due to UMG lol.

This reminds me of how hard it was for Gaga at the beginning of her career, and how the huge backlash she had to face at that time in a sense ended up daunting her creativity and her ability to take artistic risks. Even before playing the video I could already anticipate that it was a video from 2011 that instead of pointing out an inspiration, it directly accused her of plagiarism. This was constant back then, even in cases like this one, where in my opinion there is no such resemblance. It is really sad that the most ambitious and creative pop artist of this century has been so attacked and so little appreciated at the time, and that she has not been able to fully overcome these criticisms but has ended up in a certain sense "giving in" to the pressures...  I think a lot of what she is objected to today is rooted in the immense scrutiny she was under at the time. Sorry, it's totally off topic but the video (and the bitter and disrespectful comments) led me to think that. I feel she wasn't appreciated in her time and also isn't fully appreciated now in retrospect for all she offered to pop music back in time, maybe "20 years from now" (as she herself anticipated in an interview on The Fame). It's hard for me to think she doesn't feel a little bitter at the way almost any female artist who enjoys a certain amount of popularity (last night's Grammys suffice as an example) is currently being rewarded; or even in the mood to give the industry a big f*** you.

I don't know if it is a sample I always figured it was recorded in the studio but it's only hidden in the song for a couple seconds

Yes, it's not a sample but it plays during the chorus in background. ARTPOP's production is soooo layered, it's interesting.

Not sure if this counts, but Just Dance, Poker Face and Bad Romance all share the same BPM of exactly 119, which I always found interesting because normally you'd just set it to a flat 120 BPM, but I guess RedOne had a hit formula going with Gaga so he just kept doing it with her songs he felt had the best potential I guess?

Electric Chapel samples this amazing song

Judas samples this

A year prior to Judas, Loli Lux used the same sample:

Sine From Above outro samples this one

Good info!!! You seem like you know a lot about samples, do you happen to know what song they sampled/interpolated in Dance in The Dark? I saw a video about it like 12+ years ago but I can't find anything about it now.

It's specifically the synth melody before she starts with "silicone, saline, poison..."

If you've never listened to the studio acapella for Poker Face it has these amazing background vocals in the chorus that sound absolutely ethereal
