Only if it's new spending. IE pushes the consumer to make extra money they normally would have otherwise not earned or spent. Buying a $15 pizza in Chicago where a concert is happening isn't helping the economy if the consumer would have otherwise spent $15 on a burger in their hometown. Or being late on a car payment to get concert tickets. The consumer is just shuffling and concentrating spending at that point, not generating economic activity. Generating activity is only a thing if the consumer has the money just sitting idle in their account with no purpose.

Someone spending money at a restaurant because they've had to a) travel and so can't cook or b) dont have time to cook at home before going to the show is a PUSH to spend money they otherwise wouldn't.

Maybe you're on a better wage than some, but generally I eat at home unless I'm going out with friends/partners or going out to a show/event and so do most people.

Also shuffling money around to change the destination of it is economic activity. Especially if that money is moved in order to make a new purchase as opposed to paying down the cost of an existing purchase. The existing purchase has already been processed by the economy when the purchase was made & any credit arrangement was signed - the manufacturer has recieved the money in full, typically the retailer has as well, only the credit provider is awaiting the return of borrowed funds.  Plus credit providers make their money in 2 ways, interest on loans & late fees. So a late fee being incurred one month, actually increases the profit made by the provider.

Cities where shows are going are also going to attract attendees from elsewhere in the country/region, which at the minimum impacts hotel, transport and food spend directly

A Very Gaga Holida

No she’s not hated at all, people usually just don’t talk about her. She probably still pulls great numbers and would sell out the biggest stadiums cause her fanbase is that huge, but you’ll probably rarely or never hear about her in real life (except on TikTok or YT shorts, you would hear “I’m the problem it’s me”). If you asked random parents or grandparents on the street, they probably wouldn’t be able to tell you who she is:shrug: I’ve tried to talk about her to young people as well but even they are not often aware of her which is weird considering her immense success world wide and probably even here in the charts (I don’t know sh*t about charts), but I guess France is sometimes very blind to the rest of the world in a way. In comparison, 100% of the country know who Gaga is, and if you asked people to tell you the Gaga songs they knew, they’d tell you PF, BR, Alejandro, Shallow and sing ARUTW without knowing the title. They would know the other hits obviously, but they wouldn’t necessarily cross their mind lol. But if you asked them about Tay’s songs, I feel that most people wouldn’t be able to name or sing one. Or maybe it’s just where I live and not the whole country, but I’ve literally not heard about Taylor even once since I Knew You Were Trouble was a hit. Whenever I see posts or articles about her, it’s always in other languages. Never, ever, ever in french. There are articles for sure, it’s impossible otherwise, but she’s not that huge part of pop culture the way she is everywhere else. On TV in the last years, I’ve seen many reports about Gaga, Rih, Britney, Mariah, Madonna and even Miley, not one about Taylor.

I was curious so I just did my research, in 2023, she doesn’t appear in the top 100 biggest hits (Flowers is #1)

Edit: neither does she appear in the top 200, I’m actually shocked :air: Summertime Sadness is #131, Viva La Vida is #166

In comparison, Shallow was #12 in 2019

THIS!

She only make cookie cutter songs for her fanbase. She’s not a remarkable artist.

This thread is the perfect example of why Gar needs to do something. This fanbase is unraveling. :ladyhaha:
