Dua Lipa's Argylle bombs at box office

This is the kind of film that don't work at cinemas now, only seems to be event films that do particularly well, the middle of the road or mid budget films we used to get all the time are now streaming films for many people. It's a shame but if the film is genuinely bad I guess it checks out, however I do worry for the future of actually good mid budget films, there just isn't an audience anymore. You either have to be a mega event film and do well at multiplex or be a foreign or indie darling and do well in the independent cinemas, those smaller Hollywood films just don't do well now unless they are sent to streaming.

I saw it Friday. I understand why some people say it's bad and why it tanks. 
The plot are kinda all over the place. I guess people might be confused by that. It is funny though, to me anyway. But yeah, it is more like streaming movie, so better wait for it to be available on Apple TV+ since they are the studio that own this movie.

Calling it "Dua Lipa''s Argylle" seems to be assigning a lot of importance to somebody who is in a grand total of 5 minutes of the movie.

Should've gone straight to streaming tbh. The way people used to go watch movies at the theater is changing and everyone is more selective about the stories they want to spend time and money on. These types of stories don't attract young people anymore.

Argylle isn’t thaaat bad but it’s so cheesy and doesn’t take itself serious. Dua Lipa is also there during the first 5 mins so I don’t understand how this has been promoted with her at the front. That dancing scene with Henry is pretty much half her appearance lol. 

This was also more a Bryce Dallas + Sam Rockwell lead movie. I was disappointed Henry was not that much in it but it’s part of the story. 
 

That’s interesting because the marketing make it look like Dua and Henry are the leads. I didn’t even know Bryce was in it.  So if people go for Dua and Henry they might give it bad exit scores just because they felt misled.

I watched it last night and I was really disappointed. The trailers are really misleading and it was way too long for this plot.

Feel like we should change the title? Feels like some sort of unnecessary shade towards Dua (and I’m not even a “Stan” per se) and she’s in it for 3 minutes. Catherine O’Hara & Bryan Cranston are iconic actors and actresses, they made their bag but probably their worst received project to date. The studio is the one that suffers lol.

No, they were advertised differently. We knew that Gaga was there briefly, they didn't focus the campaign on her. Maybe with Machete because she was on the poster, but it makes sense since it's such a bizzarre movie and it featured everyone on the poster
