chromatica does sound dated, but the date is 2013-2015

I would not defend each and every production choice on Chromatica, but I personally don't get the criticism of it (or any music really) sounding "dated." The album is heavily inspired both visually and sonically by late 90s & early 00s Eurodance, so of course it evokes sounds from a different time period..?

(I'm not trying to argue by the way, I just jumped on the occasion to voice my personal lack of comprehension for that particular argument.)
