The secret is out then. She's waiting for The Weeknd to release his album first, cause she's on it. And with all the hype around this collab she will announce LG7.

Why do we think this?

Musically, the “Hurry Up Tomorrow” album includes plenty of the sleek, chrome-plated hooks that have characterized many of the Weeknd’s biggest hits. But to a degree he hasn’t really done before, it also includes explorations of other genres: classic R&B, straight pop, acoustic guitars, fast beats and an epic, sweeping song, probably the finale, that recalls Prince’s “Purple Rain.”

It also features several major special guests, most of whom the Weeknd declined to make public just yet.

@darkgaga

Remember all the Purple studio pictures from last year? And the photo that got deleted with Prince’s photo in the background and the caption "Prince is being cheeky" that some guy posted.

This can't be a coincidence.

Gaga Scholar

Just some speculation for fun over here:

So now that "Die With A Smile" will be on LG7...is this move confirmation that it's more Gaga's song than Bruno's? I know that she told the story about how it was his song, but she also told us that the song would be a standalone single. :huntyga:

Was the tale of its origin one of those classic Gaga stories that bends the truth to shape a narrative within her control? I still think DWAS is a J:FAD reject. But even if the idea for the song was originally Bruno's, I can see Gaga running with and "Shallow"-izing it.

I can also picture Gaga fudging the story to maximize the benefits of her collaborating with him for them both.

Further, I see that "Apt." appears on Rosé's album. Bruno has a writing credit, but it looks like she wrote the majority of the song. "Disease" producer Cirkut also appears to have a producing credit on it...I find the music industry incest of it all is so fascinating.

I also see that Bruno is expected to release an album of his own soon. So, if DWAS is mostly his song, why isn't it going on his album?

And if it is in fact mostly Bruno's song, why cut a deal to release it on Gaga's YouTube channel and now album?

I have questions.

It's kind of obvious Bruno's album wasn't ready, so they chose to list Gaga as lead since she had/has LG7 already in the system. Sure, they could've billed Bruno as lead, but then his fanbase and more would expect his own solo music right after DWAS.

I see your logic!

I still wonder then why they even bothered claiming it was a standalone single upon its release. It makes me wonder if Gaga even really wants it on LG7 or if she was talked/forced into it.

The lore is almost always my second favorite topic after the music itself.

It has been confirmed that it is Gaga's song since Day 1 because the credit is "Lady Gaga & Bruno Mars" and not "Bruno Mars & Lady Gaga". It's also "Interscope" as the song's main label on Spotify and not Bruno's label.

We all know it's Bruno who called Gaga but somehow Interscope got the jump on it. and they were amazing for doing that. :awesome:

ARTPOPSYCHOLOGY

Yall the meltdowns in the last 10 pages are absolutely insane. While I agree it was jarring for a vogue cover story to announce Feb as the LG7 release date, she said it herself. Her post about DWAS going #1 was also kind of a clear sign they were waiting for that to happen. Gaga went on record that she composed most of the song and it seems like Bruno had a bare bones idea of a collab and the universe collided and they only released it when they did to not interfere with joker (without them not knowing the backlash to come) but she always said the album was about love so it makes sense Bruno agreed for it to be on the album, and that already helps the promo of the album and sales (for those who still care about that). And yes, I am on the train that her label failed at promoting disease with physicals and other promo bc it’s one of her best leads, but what can we do about that now? It still has 110m streams and charting will little promo, that’s pretty impressive for a legacy artist who doesn’t write or record with the charts in mind.

just because we know it’s coming in Feb doesn’t mean she was obligated in the first week of January after people are busy with the comedown of the holidays to immediately announce. Then another natural disaster occurred that no one even seems to worry if she’s ok/know if she was at her Malibu residence, etc. I’d rather a post acknowledging she’s ok than an LG7 announcement. We already have two songs off the album. I think a late January announcement with a 2.28 release is more than plausible.

Some of us have been on this site since BTW and the music industry and promotion has changed. Relax and give it a few weeks. I’m eager to see what she has in store and for the euphoric feeling when she announces but it would be tone deaf if she did it this past week.

TL;DR: The album seems to have been locked for months and her upcoming Coachella/Brazil dates seems to confirm that. The meltdowns would be understandable if it’s the last week of January and we still have nothing. I’m still of the belief all plans are set and she’ll announce roughly a month before release.
