Dua Lipa announces new single ‘Training Season’ out February 15th

With the right song, she could easily turn this whole mess of an album rollout around. But this song ain’t it. This one and Houdini literally sound like FN b-sides. Even DTN was giving major FN vibes but at least that song was good.

I feel like after "One Kiss" her music style (vocally) became a bit one-note. It's hard to explain but when you compare it to her debut which actually had a bit more grit

Yeah I don't know wtf she and her team have been doing, the rollout for this era has been messy af and I think she put way too much on her plate with trying to campaign for Barbie, Argylle and DL3 all at the same time. Dance the Night has sorta made the whole situation worse because it was a giant hit which meant that Houdini did not feel like a comeback because as far as the US was concerned, she had never gone away. I still think that this era will be pretty successful if she plays her cards right from this point on and actually does proper promo instead of leaving her singles out to die.

Exactly OMG, I mean I wouldn’t call “Dance The Night” huge but it was a hit for sure, and I will never understand why artists drop a random song before a new era.

It literally worked once, for “Where Are Ü Now” / “What Do You Mean?” and the Purpose era.

To that day, everybody tries to recreate that, but it’s never worked again. It kills all the hype of the comeback. It worked for Justin because it was a 360 shift of his whole image/brand which was heavily hated and he went from kid to man in people’s eyes.

What do you mean by random? It was part of the Barbie movie soundtrack 

I think Houdini release felt unnecessarily rushed, she should be releasing Houdini by now and Training Season next to the summer

Goodness you all monsters so harsh and negative. Until your fave does the same thing and then it’s a whole different issue. Judging a song from a 25 sec snippet. Also Houdini is a good song. If it performed as well as DSN or Levitating yall would be praising it to the heavens.

The issue with Dua Lipa is that her success seems to depend upon interest from the general public alone, she has no dedicated fanbase to speak of, if she flops, she is going to flop very hard like Katy did and might not come back from it. I have met plenty of people who like Dua Lipa songs but nobody who would call themselves a hardcore Dua Lipa fan
