I don't mind sampling at all, but as others have said this is just really on-the-nose. She's done this before, like with "Not Your Barbie Girl." I prefer when she borrows a melody or a riff but then makes an otherwise different song, like how "Kings & Queens" used an interpolation of Bonnie Tyler's "If You Were Woman (And I Was a Man)."

Does anyone remember back when Sean Kingston released Beautiful Girls ("You're way too beautiful, girl") and then Jojo released the 'reply' ("I'm way too cool for you, boy")? It's very that.

Yeah, it ends up feeling lazy. Doja is really good at sampling tho:

Modern popstars like Ava Max, Bebe Rexha etc have made their entire careers on basically covering other people's songs
