NATO Admiral warns of total war with Russia, talks mass conscription in case of need

Reuters- A top NATO military official called on public and private actors in the West on Wednesday to prepare for an era in which anything could happen at any time, including fighting a war.

He noted that in the past, NATO governments and companies lived in an era in which everything was plentiful, foreseeable, controllable, and focused on efficiency.

Since Russia's invasion of Ukraine in 2022, they should adjust their thinking to "an era in which anything can happen at any time, an era in which we need to expect the unexpected, an era in which we need to focus on effectiveness in order to be fully effective", he said.

Not as simple though. U.S republican congress is blocking further aid to Ukraine. And they might run out of ammo.

It is possible that through their stupidity they let Ukrainian front collapse.

Another issue is the fact this war exposed serious weaknesses when it comes to the West's ability to produce artillery shells and other types of ammos, whereas Russia is able to mobilize the entire population/economy for war with little to no dissent. You can't do that in the Western world.

It's europeans who are mainly in trouble. Trump explicitly told European officials he would not help if they get attacked by Russia. And in his second term, if Russia goes after a NATO country, honestly I feel like he'll blame NATO countries for not paying their fair share and stay on the sidelines.

The countries who are at risk in my opinion are the baltics, Moldova and Romania. I doubt Russia will attack Poland because they have a very capable army.
