Or is it deserved? I don’t think Barbie was snubbed tbh , it wouldn’t have won anyways, the competition was too tough. I’m surprised Margot was nominated. Margot did great with what she was given, but the role wasn’t given much , script wise, for it to be award worthy, no matter who played it IMO it was a great fun movie! And Greta did a great job too. I just think the script and plot were weak ok rant over!!! edit: all that being said- the REAL award is how much MONEY that movie made at the box offices. I consider that more of a success than any award or nomination! Barbie DID THAT! Edited January 20, 2024 by Controversiaga Pronounced like “Balenciaga” . Barbie and Mario were snubbed badly Mario? Gurl lol

Gurl lol yes yes even if I didn't watch it, I think it deserves an oscar's, barfta, critic choice, people's choice, nick kids award and mtv movie awards. freebit 6,125
BAFTA is trash for snubbing Lily. As if Barbie was an acting showcase, lol. Also if Emma Stone wins a second oscar I'm going to be so annoyed. Why is the world so damn basic.

Her acting in Poor Things is good Unpopular opinion: It's hard for me to like Poor Things because it's so obviously written by a man, and also I've seen this whole thing play out much better before on Penny Dreadful. Also, she shouldn't have one for LaLa Land in the first place, and I feel like Emma is just always a minute away from SNL-style skit with the quirky faces she pulls for just about every role she plays. After all, one is a British ceremony and the other is American. Opinions can be like chalk and cheese when it comes to art appreciation in these countries. Baftas have a 60+% accuracy though. It's only really in the last 5 or less years there's been any major divergence. And arguablly I'd say that's because of the way awards ceremonies have struggled to react when called out on the institutionalised bias against the non-traditional films & PoCs etc. I'm not gonna say that the Oscars noms will replicate the Baftas by any stretch - what I do think is it shows the strength of support in the critic class for Barbie isn't super high and so the small number of noms vs awards bait like Oppenheimer & Maestro is probably going to happen at the Oscars.
