This if fine - it's not spectacular, it's not terrible either. I think the flack he gets from other queers is more so because he's a flamboyant queer and there's nothing other flamboyant queers find more annoying. I think it speaks volumes that the moment a rumor Kesha was involved came out, the conversation around the single went from almost all negative to almost all positive.

He is sooo ****ing amazing, I am such a fan. I think the cover art is amazing, I love it. The coloring, the theme, all of it is just so nice. The snippet of the song, love it. 

He's literally the only pop star that is controversial in the last few years. Besides Lil Nas, the only controversy I can think of since COVID started is WAP, everyone is so safe. Doja makes little splashes but they're not cultural moments.

See idk I don’t even think of it as controversial just…obvious? It just feels like kinda bland and done to me. WAP was controversial bc it went IN on sex but idk I feel like Nas X’s stuff is like…consumer group tested controversy? Like it doesn’t feel real idk if I’m making sense  like, for example, Judas was not controversial it was just a silly release date and boring people catching pearls but we all yell CONTROVERSIAL bc we’re told to. Nah bb DWUW with r Kelly as a feature is controversial lmao Madonna doing like a prayer when she did with the crosses was controversial and simulating sex on the VMAs stage. Jay Z talking about Tina Turner and Ike on drunk in love. This stuff just feels churned controversy but true controversy needs to be more organic or something idk

I can def see your perspective and I agree he's not really providing anything new but I know it will still create backlash and honestly, maybe the fact that it is "churned controversy" is good! Maybe all the weirdos who get soo pissed and angry at him will be like "that's just camp!" and they'll stop being incredibly dramatic about artistic choices. and I don't see this song/art as very controversial but I still think Lil Nas is. Releasing a song saying "Fck BET! Fck BET!" I gagged! lol

If it's about homophobia, Muslim countries around the world treat LGBTQ people much, much worse than any of the big Christian churches ever have. In most of Christianity it's basically, if you believe in our teachings, homosexuality is a sin and will distance you from God. You still have free will and can choose what you want to do with your life. End of story. Plus, every single Christian country is a secular one.

I don't get it. I mean I do, because the consequences of pissing off Muslims would be much more serious, and he doesn't really want to take risks or send a message.
