Dam. I didnt realize it was THAT bad. Here are some highlights in article (i encourage you to read full article) of some of the standards Air Canada had for female flight attendants until 1970:

1. You had to quit after age 32 or 10 years of service (which ever came first)

2. Strict weight ranges. Flight attendant said for her height if she dropped below 112lbs or went over 116lbs shed be taken off with no pay. They had to weigh themselves frequently to prove they were in compliance.

3. Marriage ban while serving

4. After marriage ban was abolished, for some time they required If you had a baby, you had only 6 weeks to get back to your weight range

5. Specific make up eye liner had to be used and only available in Airline store

6. A red head with frekles claimed she was told if she got sunburned while on a trip shed get fired

I didnt know it was THIS bad.

Also i hear so many horror stories from old people about working conditions and no labor protections up until 1980s before workers rights and safety standards went through a revolution in this Country

The economy may have been stronger for middle class back then but it also came with so much abuse :saladga:

Bonkers

I mean, women couldn't get a credit card in their own name until 1974.  Couldn't vote in some elections until the 60's.
