In the past 20 years, there have only been 4 exceptions. Sandra Bullock did the 2006 cover and at the time she had not received an Academy nomination but she was nominated and won an Oscar in 2010 for The Blind Side. Lizzo covered the 2020 edition and Lorde covered the 2021 edition and they’re strictly musicians. Gaga covered the 2018 edition but at the time she was not a nominated actress. She had only received a nomination for her music. It looks like Vogue went back to their old formula by having Kate Winslet cover 2023 and Jennifer Lawrence cover 2022. Do we think Gaga can snatch their 2024 cover? Charlize Theron, Sandra Bullock, Michelle Williams, and Lupita Nyong’o have all done the October cover more than once so it’s not like Vogue wants a different actress every year. I really hope so.
