This in turn means that the commonly used map of the world no longer accurately represents the reality on the ground. It's a Tuareg secessionist entity in northern Mali which achieved de facto independence from the official government https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Coordination_of_Azawad_Movements [the Tuaregs are a group of peoples across western Africa which do not have a state of their own]. CMA is also a party to the Mali Civil War which also involves the Russian mercenary/proxy group Wagner (of course the US and France are/ were also involved to some extend).
