Anderson123 35,594
Born This Way easily. The Fame Monster is a pretty solid body of work that can stand on it's own as an ALBUM rather than a re-issue, EP, etc. whatever they planned to do first but it's only 8 tracks and the first 8 tracks of Born This Way are all so good and quite the journey but then you have a good middle part (Black Jesus, Bad Kids, Fashion of His Love, Highway Unicorn) only to take it up again with amazing song after amazing song (Heavy Metal Lover -> The Edge of Glory). It's just her best album, era, tour, etc. I'm so happy I got to experience it from the VMAs announcement, New Years Announcement, to every snippet we got to hear til it was out and then interviews, performances every other day. 2

I like Born This Way quite a lot and it includes some of my greatest favorites, but in its entirety The Fame Monster is more captivating. BTW has a couple of songs I never really listen. This. TFM is perfect meanwhile BTW has some fillers and sounds a bit overproduced.
SevenWonder 3,711
TFM has more highly radio friendly songs that you can't help but love. They are near perfect pop songs. No skips. BTW is dark, edgy, weird, risky (it does have skips) and, because of that, is ultimately SLIGHTLY more satisfying to me.
Didymus 34,379
TFM all the way. BTW has aged horribly imo. Never finds a balance between pop and avant-garde. The end result is just irritatingly uneven for me. It just sounds like Gaga singing over cool instrumentals that don’t get to shine. TFM, on the other hand, knows exactly what it’s doing and executes it near perfectly. BTW also marks the start of Interscope deciding to edit her vocals to an absurd degree (as acknowledged by Gaga herself). The vocal mixes on that album are truly atrocious. Modern Ecstacy 3,837
Born This Way is more creative, innovative and unconventional. The instrumental and quirkiness of songs like Government Hooker and Scheisse, for example, still sound so fresh and unlike anything we hear in modern pop music. They were revolutionary for their time in 2011. The Fame Monster is more or less "standard-pop" compared to Born This Way
djBuffoon 11,997
The Fame Monster is a fantastic, quick, nearly faultless sucker-punch of a pop album. Born This Way is more bombastic, messier, and has some overwrought moments, but it’s ballsier, grander, riskier, more moving, and more “Gaga” in every sense. I don’t foresee her ever releasing a better album, but I’m happy to be wrong. Edited December 21, 2023 by djBuffoon
A Very Gaga Holida 20,478
Her two very best, there just can’t be any honest debate about that. Her other albums are good or great too, but obviously not even half as good as BTW and TFM. (and don’t tell me Metacritic says otherwise because we all know the ratings are HEAVILY based on the artist’s image and after ASIB, there was no way Chromatica wasn’t going to be her highest) But out of the two, even though the choice isn’t very easy at first sight, I’d say Born This Way has the best melodies, rythms, lyrics (minus the first Hair bridge omg), production, vocals, is much more daring both sonically and lyrically (and visually but that doesn’t count), it has a more ambitious purpose and a better thought structure. AND I have a strongest connection to it, so yeah, Born This Way is my favorite out of the two (and out of them all actually). I kinda like ASIB and ARTPOP more than TFM too, but they’re objectively not as good at all. Edited December 22, 2023 by The Z

Versace 7,860
Idm having this thread for the 50th time but it’s so predictable cause BTW always wins. The site has very sentimental value for it and it was the album that brought in the most loyal fans I’d argue. As for me TFM is my fav.
