Dennis 8,391
Reviving the old TFM 3rd Single feud Gaga wanted Alejandro. Jimmy Iovine wanted Dance in the Dark.
Starmie25 13,144
Gaga was right with "Alejandeo"

TEANUS 12,434
For so many years I would’ve said Dance In the Dark hands down, but now I had to vote Alejandro. It’s everything about Gaga’s songwriting that was able to be so catchy yet so dark. The stuttering (Ale, Alejandro), the sledgehammer beat, Spanish infused lyrics, and synths make it sooo infectious Edited December 19, 2023 by TEANUS British social ladies with upturned pinkies, glasses clinking // xoxoTEANUS 11
Chromatislaps 34,758
Alejandro, its an earworm. I do think DITD should have been the next single before BTW
Vengaboy 1,183
I think Alejandro was in fact the right choice. It has aged better and had a sound like nothing else, past or present. Though personally I like DITD better!
Gorehound 3,649
Definitely Alejandro. DITD is iconic and has an amazing chorus and is so detailed and atmospheric, but it's also messy and in desperate need of remastering. Alejandro is much fresher and tighter as a pop song. Also it's one of the very few Gaga dance songs that doesn't have a four-on-the-floor dance beat to it which is refreshing. I'm fine, Ta 2

Alejandro is definitely cleaner, but I feel DITD is much more experimental and unique.
Gorehound 3,649
Just now, Dennis said: I sort of agree with this. Comparing it with DITD just proves that 'less is more' sometimes. I'm fine, Ta
Ultimecia 6,025
Every year that passes makes me realize more and more how much of a timeless masterpiece Alejandro is. Time. It will not wait, no matter how hard you hold on...

Controversiaga 9,254
Aejandro. dance in the dark is amazing but Alejandro is more listenable and far more catchy Pronounced like “Balenciaga” . Emphasis on the “Ga”
Auther 22,081
Almost impossible to choose, so I went with Alejandro because I'm more likely to listen to it.
rinasawachanta 2,635
Alejandro is immaculate. There really is no bad time to listen to it. It must be the only Gaga song that, once it starts playing on shuffle, I don't skip EVER. It's just perfect: europop at its best, iconic references, absolutely catchy, sexy, dark.... Everything anyone could want from a Gaga track. And what to say about the video, one of the best, if not the best, of her videography. DITD, for its part, is iconic. Bridge is sacred. But I really feel it sounds a bit chaotic and really needs a remastering. Something to make it a bit more "clean". Without a doubt, Alejandro was the right choice for a single. Listening back to these two songs made me very nostalgic. Without a doubt, Gaga knew how to represent something totally out of the box since she burst onto the scene and especially during TFM and BTW. That perfect mix between New York, obscurity, diva, pop art, camp, queerness... Truly, a once-in-a-lifetime act.
