Mkay 👍🏼 Here's the thing...Trump is indeed the worse option of the two but we absolutely cannot let that preclude us from pointing out that the Biden admin thusfar has been an absolute disappointment on almost all fronts. The longer we let the "well he ain't Trump" thing go on, the less incentive he has to actually do anything worthwhile. He and all the Democrats have been riding "not Trump" rather than actually doing anything. He ran a very emotional campaign that dug deep into the core issues that most Americans were most concerned about. In the process, he made a lot of promises and spoke of things that made it all sound like we'd see actual progress. He hasn't done 98% of that. Biden has proven himself time and time again to be a piss poor negotiator. He is weak, unwilling to fight, and operates using an incredibly outdated style of governing. He's walked back on so many of the strong positions he campaigned on, he's failed to live up to nearly all the promises he's made, and he's managed to seriously fumble some serious things that should've been at the very top of his agenda. The problem with Biden isn't that he's made life in America worse (though he has absolutely failed several minority groups so I wouldn't be shocked if their lives were actively worse), it's that he hasn't made it better. He ran his whole campaign on better and he has not delivered not one single time. The only things he's done better than Trump is not be fascist in training and not come after minority groups. Which I'm glad, but we also shouldn't be celebrating the president doing the bare minimum simply because his predecessor did less than that. He has been a truly terrible president in very different ways than Trump was. I will be voting for him next November because I truly don't want that evil man back in office, but I'm not going to pretend that my vote is to keep Biden in the White House. It's to keep Trump out of it.

It's to keep Trump out of it. I feel the same way. And to be very clear and as many of you who have been this site know, this is exactly what I expected from a Biden presidency. Not a single thing has been a surprise. I feel sorry for those who actually believed he'd be a great president. At this point, him not being Trump is enough to get my vote. And that's the saddest fact of this entire thing.

Dennis 8,391
Economically? I don't feel that honestly. I'm doing pretty well this year. But I don't know, maybe they're talking about foreign policy? Crime? Immigration? Anyone who thinks Trump is gonna solve any of these problems is delusional however. Emvee 8,840
I’m not a fan of Biden put do people understand these conditions don’t just appear out of nowhere because of one president? lol If anything, it can and is said that much of the supply chain disruptions that are happening now originated with Trump’s trade war with China! Even before the pandemic or the Ukraine war, companies were scrambling to find loopholes - eventually resulting in what is now called “nearshoring”. But supply chains don’t just appear out of thin air. We will be in an inflationary period for a while until supply chains are structured outside of China. EDIT: This doesn’t even take into account the labor shortage. Our economy is changing. People are finding alternative means of income outside of the formal economy. Baby boomers are retiring, which creates more money supply than there is production of goods. Both Trump and Biden have been tough on immigration. Bling 31,680
Ok definitely not "pro-Biden", but I'm pleased with the student loan situation. Yes I would have preferred to have my $42k forgiven for $22k, but I signed up with the new payment plan and my minimum payment is $0. So basically pay what you can. I think there are lots of factors that are in place today, not necessarily because of Biden but because we are post-pandemic. Inflation was expected, and that has a huge ripple effect on everything! Student loan situation was a half step but at least it was something. They still need to bring down college costs and more federal loan types need the SAVE payment plan (really the whole debt needs to be restructured along with interest but at least it's a work around). FAFSA needs to be improved and so do Pell grants. I wouldn't say Biden has made life worse, but he hasn't made it much better either. There's so much he promised and walked back etc. But honestly I wasn't ever expecting much from him and knew he'd be better than Trump.

Yeah I guess what I mean is overall I feel very neutral towards Biden. If it were him and Trump again I'd obviously go with Biden. The war has made things... complicated. But he's kind of screwed either way.
SpadesToStart 3,810
People need to recognize being worse off in 2021 to 2024 does not mean you are worse off because of Biden. Most of the crappy things right now like inflation, foreign affairs, etc. would have happened independent of the president and would have definitely been handled worse under Trump

But it's hard for people to "blame" an abstraction like war, a pandemic or inflation. They need their frustration to land somewhere. And with a president that doesn't have the strongest presence, it's easy to use him as a scapegoat. Which then opens the door for candidates who are "more assertive" in "solving the problem"... idiots like Trump.
Nickypie101 1,591
I am so deeply worried about the election next year and having major major déjà vu of people demonizing Hillary in 2016. we seen how that turned out, I hardly paid attention to politics then as I was 17 but can totally see the similarities. Praying people stop demonizing Biden and start realizing that these “alternative options” , Marianne Williamson, Claudia whoever, Jill Stein, and RFK only benefit Trump and put him back in the White House and if that happens, I don’t think I’ll ever ever forgive the country, gay rights will be toast, please think a little before demonizing Biden. I really wish we had a different system like any other country and could elect a different party but that’s just not possible and people really need to realize that especially in election as important this one

I dont think Biden is some economic wizard either tho tbh. He has not made significant changes to regulation, tax code etc His biggest thing that has influenced the economy is the green infrastructure deal. Thats boosting the economy considering its all being payed by deficits But boosting the economy by running unsustainable deficits (that will be an issue eventually) doesnt take much skill or intelligence. Any President can do that Edit: and dont get me wrong. Infrastructure and green investments are important. But paying it by raising deficits is the lazy way (not to mention inflationairy as well and now is a bad time to raise inflation) The harder more progmatic way would involve either substantial tax hikes, or even better, savings else where (like military cuts)... or a combination of both tbh. But of course that would be tough so he didnt go that route
