dit 45,443
It's weird Olivia is facing a mini backlash era on her sophomore album. This is usually when a popgirl peaks in terms of GP favor and smash hits and stuff (not always but most times). She had such a huge debut though that it would be impossible to beat it realistically but I just envisioned more from this era...not just stan twitter attacking her because of Taylor comparisons and then accusations of theft and only one proper hit... "SHE DIDN'T INVENT TEA PARTIES" I mean, like I said, it isn’t a unique idea . If you put 10 creatives in a room with the a mood board for birthday parties, tea parties and the cute but cruel aesthetic, more than half of them would probably have had this same idea with subtle differences. It looks like a copy because neither one of them reinvented the wheel with the aesthetic. It’s really that simple. People were making this same argument with Born This way and Express yourself. Lyrically and sonically sounded a like but was a coincidence that it was. Pop music of all subgenres, at surface level, are often times just cliches/trends being recycled by other artists whether it’s from inspiration or not. Think of the color spectrum, we cant even think of a color no one has seen before. It’s inevitable when you create something that you’re probably “copying” someone who thought of it first.

"SHE DIDN'T INVENT TEA PARTIES" Still a MASSIVE reach and clearly just an effort to get her name in the headlines with Olivia for clout Less like a real point and more akin to that chick that claimed Gaga and Ari ripped her off for the absolutely unique and never before used line of "teardrops on my face" 1
LG666 1,749
This is a reach. Art isn't created in a vacuum. Concepts get recycled and passed around. Everything is borrowed and inspired by something else. A tea/dinner party is especially a theme used over and over and over. This conversation is boring. The timing and movements are incredibly similar. The sugar cubes in the cup, raising the cup for a toast, crawling on the table, grabbing a knife, slamming the fists down on the table, starting the food fight, then the hands in the prayer position... and all in that order. Even the camera angle is the same. So the creative director for Olivia's performance who happened to follow someone on Instagram who posted Noelle's video on her story came up with the EXACT same concept...wow what a coincidence 2
Evil R 1,084
This is just reach. No choreography does not look similar. No the timing and movements are not similar. No the camera angle is not the same. She just did a good editing job.

I wanna say pop stars aren't a thing anymore unless they debuted like 10 years ago and there's a Stan culture surrounding them. Everyone is just hot for a year or two and they slowly fade. What are pop stars even doing anymore to connect with fans? I feel like it's always just selling a single or an album. They need to grow something sustainable rather than aiming for a tik tok hit every few months.

A Very Gaga Holida 20,427
Yeah, I don’t understand why people pretend not to see it, it’s so obvious. But like the artist said, I don’t think it’s Olivia’s fault, and she was vert polite and even quite loving 1
