so its only ok when male artists use ur art... :littlepotter: ok

The Weeknd asked for permission.

Honestly that’s probably why he’s on a high horse about this. The Weeknd (and possibly other artists?) set the precedent for him that he owns this imagery, so he was probably expecting the same protocol with Beyoncé. But we all know that’s now how Beyoncé’s team operates :icant:

The Weeknd actually paid and credited her? I don’t think this is about gender

I didn’t know who Hajime Sorayama was but a Google search left me blown me away. Incredible art.

Renaissance didn't really make much noise in Japan and the show never toured in that country, so Sorayama probably found out about the design from the tour film, which is why he's speaking up now. I do feel like it's bit of a mess that he's choosing to speak out re: homages since he's done that a lot in his career. BUT I can also imagine that he feels warranted to do so since copyright and derivative works are viewed differently in Japan than the rest of the world.

No it's mainly his spikey headpiece which is a signature creation, and that was not there in the Metropolis robot

"Signature creation"? But aren't these stereotypical space helmets looks?

I mean futuristic/ robot/ space explorers looks are often mixed so imo Beyoncé simply served a quite basic sci-fi style and it's crazy someone can claimed it's his thing.

oh god, it's not about being original or about the Metropolis movie, it's about the exact design of his work that she used without his permission :flop: even the nipples are identical :emma:

Actually the breastplates aren't the same.

It's simply nipples in molding metal on Beyoncé.

Zendaya, Lupita N'yongo, Sidney Sweeney or Kim Kardashian were having it last year, before the Renaissance tour. If anything it's pretty generic and late at following trends, not anyone's signature design. :ladyhaha:

I swear so many people have come for her this era with regards to copying or stealing their work :air: seem to remember people being mad about her interpolating or sampling their tracks on Renaissance without credits
