I love how all the movements of Gaga and the dancers feel so purposeful and how in-sync they are as a group, it has her best choreo in a long time. I love how I can feel Gaga’s passion throughout the entire show, she’s worked really hard to be able to perform this way again and it shows, she doesn’t get enough credit for it. The overall concept for the show is genius in my opinion. It bewilders me that some people have said it was only ok, or that it didn’t live up to their expectations about Chromatica, but one thing about Gaga is that she’ll always subvert our expectations. She gave us a show about pain, what it is to face it, and the relief in overcoming it, all mixed together with dance music, artistic visuals and fashion. It seems like it was put together so last minute because she remembered she had an obligation to still tour the album. The stage felt empty. It lacked a clear story which I guess isn’t always needed but I feel would’ve definitely improved this. Getting a bit worn out hearing the same versions of the same songs she’s been doing for the last 15+ years. With that said, this tour is still one I will always hold extremely close to my heart. I was lucky enough to experience it during a time where music was the only thing keeping me afloat. The energy radiating off of her and the audience was electrifying. JohnDeWayne 211 Posted December 3, 2023 Share Posted December 3, 2023 After seeing videos of the initial shows, I decided I didn’t think it was worth it to shell out the money for a ticket to this particular tour. Here’s why… -The stage looked boring AF. Maybe I just don’t get the appeal of the brutalist architecture inspiration but it didn’t do anything for me. The JWT stage was much more interesting and dynamic imo -While unexpected, Bad Romance does not make for a great opener. Especially with Gaga being stationary and obscured for most of the song. -Not a fan of Hold My Hand as the closing number. -I wish she had included more deep cuts. For me personally, the Chromatica era in general just felt deflated and half baked. I know the pandemic had a lot to do with it but I never felt very inspired to see this tour live, especially once I saw the initial footage of the shows. I have a high bar for Gaga and still think she is one of the most talented artists alive. So maybe I’m just a little harder on her than I would be with other artists. Replay, Babylon and Enigma were for sure her career highlight performances. The energy was amazing. I couldn’t stop dancing at the show.
