This is not true though. There is "neither/other" option in the polls. And there is even options for other leftists like West and Stein who are very supportive of Palestine. And both of those are getting like 1-2%.

It doesn't make sense for people to choose "Trump" who is literally the most anti-Palestine candidate on the list as a way to voice frustration about Palestine lol. And you have to understand that when you see polls where people say they disapprove of Biden's handling of the crisis, those numbers include republicans who think he's "soft on Hamas" and the "squad". Don't mistake that for people automatically supporting Palestine.

I don't think we should be mislead about the reasons of this trend. Bad polls for Biden preceded even all of this.

There's the age factor. The economy is not doing super well. There's a leftist excess that's pushing many centrists to the right. And republicans are exploiting the immigration chaos.

The worst mistake we can make is assume these are all kids "angry about Palestine" who'll eventually come back to our side.

People are just in denial about this. There is a demographic shift. And unless people solve the problem, we're gonna lose the age group that we took for granted.

Call me a pessimist but i dont think the problem will be solved...

 

Cuz politicians always seem to fail miserably to fix problems to any meaningful degree so ppl go back and fourth between governments

 

The left failed young ppl now the right is gaining appeal. And when they fail to make life better for them they will go back to the left.

 

Its a ping pong game that been going on since democracy started

 

Unless ur in Canadas province of Alberta. In 45 years they elected the same government every time exept once so i guess consistency isnt impossible

 

But back on a more serious note... i am a little surprised at how much the right has grown lately (though i shouldnt be for the reasons i mentioned above)

The elite see immigrants as cheap labor so it’s not really going to stop as long as capitalism dominates the global economic system. 

I guarantee you they won’t do anything about immigration, but will deregulate the hell out of your economy so that in a few decades you’ll be eating the same crap we eat here in America

Not necessarily, Spain's far right movement had its peak in 2019 with 52 seats, and it went down to 33 this year. They'll be present, they'll raise their voices and people will see how absurd their views are and choose to go in other directions.

The far majority of people are in favor of helping refugees, actually. The discussion is more about the number of refugees when can realistically help.

I assume negative attitudes towards other immigrants, like international students, have more to do with things like the housing crisis.

Where are you from that the younger generation is normalizing right wingers and making it seem appealing? Because even in the southern US I'm seeing Trumpies get shamed and almost all of the visible support comes from the 50+ crowd.

I currently live in Austin TX, and always lived in America on and off for years.

I completely disagree that Republicans are treated this way in America, but I wasnt talking about them, im talking about how normies now share the same talking points as right wingers.

Its cool to be a bit edgy and say Trump is not that bad, and trans people and feminists are taking it too far, Drag Queens are grooming children, and everyone is now against leftist cancel culture..

If you think that trumpies are getting shamed, you live in a bubble (not in a negative way) but maybe your entourage heavily skews left.

A majority of people I know are leaning republican and there's no shame at all about it.
