Tony31511 228
Yup, 2023 has been a dry and underwhelming year. I don’t really count the Oscars performance, Vegas or the Rolling Stones song as career defining moments. Things just aren’t as exciting as they used to be and that’s just a fact. Her peak was 2009-2013 in terms of constantly being in the public eye and giving us music projects. But it’s unrealistic to expect her to go at that pace ALL THE TIME (plus, she was younger back then). I understand she needs time to rest or at least work on projects quietly. I’m confident that 2024 will be the “comeback” we’ve all been dreadfully waiting for. 1
Adammmm 964
Pop has been so dead to me in the US. I've been listening to basically ALL kpop/jpop this year, so I'm pretty sure Gaga won't even be in my Top 5 this year so I would say yes 2023 was uneventful. TWICE is definitely going to be my #1 artist this year, which will be the first time since like 2009 that Gaga wasn't my top artist.

TheEdgeof96 369
Honestly, I think 2021/2022/2023 have all been incredibly boring years to be a fan. Very little promo for any music projects she worked on or even TCBT, primarily focused on Haus Labs with bits of Vegas, very little online engagement and fan interaction... When I think of past breaks between albums, there were at least always rumors of what was going on and we had a general idea of what to expect. Now we're at 3.5 years post-Chromatica and have really no idea what's coming next, or even a remote idea of when. It also seems like very minor projects (Top Gun) are built up to be much bigger than the cute 'lil throwaway single we actually get. I hope whatever we get next is a project she's truly passionate about and can promote as fully as she wants. Obviously Chromatica was heavily impacted by Covid and they originally had a huge rollout plan, but even in the interviews we did get discussing the album, it felt like she was less involved/invested in the album compared to past ones. I love Chromatica, but I always got the sense she didn't make the album she wanted to make. Based on her IG post over the summer, I'm very happy to hear she's in a happier place and has found a better balance with her mental health, privacy, and personal life. I don't want her to sacrifice that in order to have a huge era or sales etc, and I hope her being in a better place leads to better music she believes more fully in. But, I also wonder if her prioritizing herself with correlate with lesser quality music (i.e., will music/lyrics be less personal if she's sharing less, will it become more commercial/generic/bland, etc). 3

Sorcerer 12,044
I think we had years that were far less engaging. The total blackout after BTW, and before and after AHS were a lot less interesting. Those were not entire years but she really disappeared in the public conversation. This year, while there are no new releases in music, film or TV, there are a few random Gaga-related events, old music, and social media posts that go viral. Thanks to career moves that built her a stronger reputation as an artist, she is still in the public conversation.
Galvon 1,857
Boring maybe, but at least nothing stressful or too controversial, right? Also because we know next year will be more exiting.

But that’s just because… well… we barely get professionally recorded material anymore. If you listen to some of her fan recorded stuff from Vegas or CBT, they’re unmatched. Eh, this is definitely more vocally impressive than anything she did at the CBT.
TheBadRomancer 949
it was definitely the most quiet year but i think it depends on the person too- the main reason it wasn't boring to me was because i saw jazz and piano, but outside of that it was very quiet. Guest
It’s been a quiet year for sure, but saying that she has been filming Joker and as she said in her IG post she’s been working on stuff. I think this year I’ve learnt that it’s normal to have interests outside of your favourite artist (of course Gaga is more to me than that) but in the case of always waiting for new music. It’s also normal that an artist in her position isn’t always constantly releasing things or being on tour. There are plenty of others who haven’t put out an album in years, I guess when they get to that stage there more comfortable.
