Besides, she's working for her family not to feed the hungry people of NYC. Charity isn't their job, helping the needy isn't their obligation either. If anything, the gov't is responsible for its people not the rich. I get why people blame them (like Oprah etc etc) narrative is they are rich so why ask for help when they can help themselves? I mean they are probably helping (people can't demand for them to donate more than half of their assets) but at least they are) On a positive note, I think these celebs are just using their platform to give awareness, and maybe hv other people help too? People who make a lot of money, should VOLUNTARILY donate. That's the closest chance we have at reducing inequality. You don't need tens of millions of dollars to live comfortably. Give back. All of these celebrities who wanna talk politics should set the example first. You can keep your wealth and keep quiet but if you wanna lecture the public on politics and how people are struggling then stop collecting luxury cars for dust and help. Put your money where your mouth is. Don't wait for the government to solve all the problems in the world. But they're greedy. I totally get what you're saying, but it doesn't change the fact that the system is failing millions of people. It shouldn't be on celebrities and the public to fund things that tax payers money should already be going towards. Also yeah she could spend half her net worth solving the issue temporarily.. but as soon as that money is used and the system stays just as broken, it will go back to being the same I'll be myself until they fūcking close the coffin.
