PM Abiy of Ethiopia has advocated for Ethiopia o be granted acces to a port on the Read Sea for quite some time.

Recently he reiterated his quest and mentioned that he believes Ethiopia's has a geographical right to have acces to the world oceans and even point suggested Ethiopia might merge with Eritrea, Djibouti, Somali to form a new globally relevant power in Africa. He mentioned Ethiopia is not threatening any other states, but didn't completely rule out military action to take ahold of a port in the past.

No landlocked country has a 'right' to an ocean port unfortunately.

A Horn of Africa Union could be interesting

An unfortunate reality landlocked Countries face/disadvantage

Something the Province of Alberta here in Canada should remember when they start talking about their superiority and how theyd be better off alone economically

The landlocked factor alone might offset most of their gains

Ambivalent, ambigous and implicitly contradictory statements and change of rethoric are things very common in international relations. I mean that's my summary of what he said, not actual statements, but Ethiopia's public messaging followed these lines.

The closest thing would be the East African Federation which started as a hypotetical scenario but things are moving on into its creation: https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/East_African_Federation But the more countries join, the less cohesive it becomes, so it may not or may not prove to be a failed project.
