edengowon 9,956
yeah... no. the way it's worded seems to imply "no man faces body image issues or unfair expectations" when it's normal in the gay community to openly shame someone for having a certain body type. if she meant straight men she should've said it. even then i don't think girls are quite as nice as she makes out. women are absolutely held to a higher standard than men, but that doesn't mean the opposite doesn't exist. humans in general are assholes over people they don't find attractive, irrespective of gender. And even when it comes from women, it's rooted in expectations men created and reinforced for themselves with our current time specifically being influenced by the 80s. Lots of people are reading this really weirdly. She says "girls" - not society. Men can have body issues too. But men have to acknowledge and realize the hurt and shame that they have caused themselves. So you're victim shaming men who struggle with body issues because they live in a patriarchal society?? buy bionic

vitoburrrito 624
I get what Billie is trying to say but people have a lot to say about men’s bodies IN ADDITION to women’s bodies. All the discourse about Troye Sivan’s body (and the bodies of the dancers he employs), all the discourse about various male celeb’s dad bods, all the discourse about men’s bodies in day to day conversation (hairlines, the necessity for being at least six foot, weight, penis size, etc.). Body image is tough for everyone and it’s hyperbolic to say nobody talks about men’s bodies, especially when it’s supposedly because girls are “too nice” to bring it up…

Butters Stotch 5,359
Well, she's wrong. It's just so normal to svrutinize men's bodies that it goes very unnoticed. And not only gays do it, women do it too, so don't fool yourselves. FIND YOUR FREEDOM IN THE MUSIC
ALGAYDO 30,328
Men don’t have it as bad as women do when it comes to getting their bodies judged, BUT THEY STILL DO. So many people openly bag on men that don’t adhere to what society deems as “hot,” just take a look at the comments on any male body-positive model’s instagram posts, half are people saying it’s gross, not a real man, unhealthy, etc etc etc. especially gay men, they’re the worst lol

Once a coworker put his hands on my belly and laughed and said "how many months My branch manager only said "thats not nice". If a man did that to a female coworker u better believe hed be suspended or at the very least gotten an official writen warning
