Taylor has sales and that's it. When artists like Ed Sheeran, Morgan Wallen or even BTS do crazy numbers we think it's weird and we don't get the appeal. This is the same thing, and that's what you guys don't understand. You expect us to conflate sales with quality/impact/legendary status but the math ain't mathing because nothing about Taylor justifies that. She is succeeding because her music is a bland commodity easily digested by and appealing to the lowest common denominator, because she has an artificially high prolificacy thanks to the re-releases and because she has succeeded in creating a highly engaged teenage girl incel fanbase. Not because she is "the best," and not because she is extraordinary in any way. She is never touching the Beatles, MJ, Madonna or any real legend, and no one will ever think of her that way. But enjoy her numbers. And preferably, enjoy them in a Taylor Charts thread so you all can circle j*rk in there without the rest of us needing to see it. Anderson123 36,059
Hold on. I thought she broke Adele's record and I remember 25 opened with like 3 million copies breaking Britney's Oops record but had to re-read that tweet again. So 1989 TV is the biggest SINCE Adele's 25, that makes more sense lol. Honestly this is insane, I expected this to be her biggest re-release project but not to the point of selling over a million copies. Good for her, she's on top of the world. As part of the lowest common denominator you said , I see her as a great musician, entertainer, and a business woman (There can be 100 people in a room and 99 of them don't believe in you but all it takes is one and it just changes your whole life ). Calm down, girl! She's still her own force, we can't deny that even if you see her as something less based on your music preferences. Your preference does not equate to other people's choice, and it does not make you better. Your preference does not equate to proven statistics of musician's extraordinariness. And babe, you don't need to include "us" too, as you can state your own sentiment based on you solely. Can you? But loving the teamwork! I hope that feeds your Superiority Complex. Love you! "And I still love you even if I can't see you anymore."
Ronnie 5,457
I love how aggravated some people get when it comes to Taylor’s success. It’s almost like because she’s a basic relatable white girl that doesn’t dress over-the-top, throw her ass and tits around or release controversial content, that she’s undeserving. But she did 1.578 million debut with Midnights, which was a standard album release - and this is the only release she's had to top that. So what is the truth? Imagine being that bothered. Why waste energy in a thread? You clearly don’t care for Taylor and that’s ok. Save that energy, focus on something else. Batwings 12,847
The amount of smugness in this thread is absurd. Taylor stans Gaga, and I thought we were all about queens supporting queens? The Taylor hate is so blasé at this point.
