Some of this is so bad. Is it because she’s rushing through these remakes, or just because Max Martin didn’t return?

I was thinking about it as well, it almost seems as if she wants the rerelease projects to be over with. For all we know she's already finished with a new album (I mean she's running in&out the studio almost daily when she's not touring)

They completely butchered Style. Taylor really just lost her best pop song ever

Style is horrifically bad but the rest of it is by far the best TV to date. She managed to improve so much on the album I thought needed the least improving and that's really saying something. The production is better, her voice is better, the additions she made to the tracks added rather than detracting. This is the TV standard moving forward.

I will be keeping Style OG tho really don't know how she shat the bed so bad with that one.

So stupid. Why not do something new when revisting your old music.

The point is to reclaim not reinvent. There are some alterations made to the tracks but completely upending and redoing them is literally the antithesis to the whole mission of doing the TVs. The point is to provide an alternative to the OGs, not just make whole new albums from their shells.

the point of making the new ones sound as close to the originals is so she can bury/erase the public's perception of the original (scooter/stolen) versions, thus reclaiming the work she wrote/created (that unfortunately, she doesn't own and benefits very little financially from).

To double down, adding "vault" (previously unreleased) tracks incentivizes her fans to listen to the new versions, giving them more content to enjoy.

She really butchered Style and Out of the woods just feels less exciting

I do think Clean, Wildest Dreams, This Love, How You Get The Girl and Shake it Off all got better

The point is to reclaim all albums that were under Scooter's management so you'd think she'd want the new versions to sound identical... he's benefitting from her music so we better stream her version instead.

The something new is the addition of "From The Vault" tracks, which to my understanding are unreleased/scrapped material that was meant to be on those albums but these ones sound like bland Midnights rejects. I believe they said she recorded 100 songs for 1989... and these are what she went for...

100?? wow

Kendrick Lamar should’ve re-recorded the rest of the album for her because he absolutely bodied Bad Blood. His delivery is exactly on point
