Those kicks are on a completely different frequency, the snare is very dry, the bass is cleaner, and there’s that new high pitched twinkle synth. I noticed almost immediately. This is just me listening in my car lol. Not to mention the vocals are dry/mixed poorly and sound disconnected from the instrumental. I could def use the new instrumental but I’d prefer the old vocals British social ladies with upturned pinkies, glasses clinking // xoxoTEANUS

LastNight 5,933
Maybe it’s because I wasn’t as familiar with the original versions of the previous re-recordings and I know 1989 like the back of my hand, but I’m definitely noticing the differences here way more. I don’t mind most of the tweaks, and the production sounds a lot clearer to me. Style is horrible though, that point I can agree with. I’m only part way through my first listen and it’s quite fun to pick up on the differences and re-experience the album all over again like it’s new. TheFame Monster 8,885
I haven’t listened to the Vault tracks yet but… I Wish You Would, How You Get The Girl, I Know Places, and Wonderland sounded pretty similar to the originals. Style, Bad Blood, and Clean are a downgrade. Clean’s “Oh-oh”s in the verses are way to forward and bright will probably listen through again but none of the Christopher Rowe produced tracks come close to the OG Max Martin/Shellback production. Reputation will probably be a mess…

The point is to reclaim all albums that were under Scooter's management so you'd think she'd want the new versions to sound identical... he's benefitting from her music so we better stream her version instead. The something new is the addition of "From The Vault" tracks, which to my understanding are unreleased/scrapped material that was meant to be on those albums but these ones sound like bland Midnights rejects. I believe they said she recorded 100 songs for 1989... and these are what she went for...

Lucas 25,712
Listened to the album and I don't like it honestly. I can't really complain about instrumentals because reproducing sounds perfectly is probably very difficult, different producer, different material/softwares etc... But her vocals sound way too off, it sounds like she's holding back, and she sounds very robotic on some songs. I wish she took more time working on her vocals because everything sounds off. I had the same complaint for Red TV. Honestly I was very confused while listening to the album and Style sounds tragic, that's how you realize that production can truly make or break a song
Papergangstuh 2,636
Some of this is so bad. Is it because she’s rushing through these remakes, or just because Max Martin didn’t return?
bpmMonkey 5,335
So, something that i havent really thought about with the other TV's but is pretty apparent this time around, is that the Vault tracks are always just added at the end of the release. I know, shocking, but there was a time when people listend to an album from start to finish, not shuffling it, no playlisting it, so artists usually curated the order quite neat. I'm really interested in where these tracks were supposed to sit, maybe they would then work a little better. also, s.l.u.t. is bad.. i cant with the taylor-three-punsh lyrics anymore (color, place, sensation/emotion). It was cute with Red and really worked (all too) well, but by now we should be through the entire spectrum of light, so please, stop it. also, also: this is and will stay the superior s.l.u.t
