Ok, but it shouldn't be about who can beat who and who is more popular but who is the most qualified and will do the best job. I just feel like American politics has become more about who can beat another candidate when it should be more about whose policies and philosophy do you agree with the most.

Unfortunately I don't see this ever changing. This is why the founding fathers advocated against two political parties.

It’s not only American politics. Politicians in general are only working for their ideas of power status and their own pockets. People haven’t being the priority in politics from decades now, no matter what side you go with.

"...it’s that I care about her mental health and she cares about mine (she doesn’t know me but she'd care)."

Grimes is so full of herself, honestly.

that was posted by "grimes AI" account, not grimes official account. is an actual AI generated tweet or did she say that herself for real lmao

Yeah but for the GOP trump is just SO popular that they have to ask the popularity question above all else :laughga:

No? Lol people like Taylor bc they *dont* have to think about politics. Notice how she speaks generally avoids things related to it and talks more about personal platitudes and stuff. The one thing that would kill swift imo would be to be more political

getting people to sign up to vote is not the same as waging an actual campaign. She’s benefited from a lot of easy press but she’d get flayed by the political establishment

I think that's actually a big reason I don't like her :messga:

Girlie, have an opinion on things! It's not just your right, it's your responsibility!

Anyway, it seems Taylor's fans are only slightly right leaning moderates so she wouldn't win among a party that's electing the likes of Trump, Jordan, MTG, etc

It was actually a warning from Washington in his farewell address. And it wasn't about political parties in general, just to be wary of parties using partisan politics to snatch power or use their power to undercut the government's functionality.

"Such factions may claim to be trying to answer popular demands or solve pressing problems, but their true intentions are to take the power from the people and place it in the hands of unjust men."

Still very applicable, more so to Republicans in the post-Reagan era, but Democrats aren't innocent either when it comes to grinding government proceedings to a halt when things aren't going their way. I mean...they're usually stopping some horrible GOP plan so, good, but still :laughga:

Yeah I think for the people she speaks to, they *also* don’t want to have political opinions. To be a decently affluent or affluent-aspiring white person is to do away with political talk so it checks out lmao I honestly just don’t particularly vibe with her music save some tracks here and there but the fans are just so annoying and it keeps me away with a 10 ft pole lmao

but yeah I get the point of “she has massive influence” being the point grimes is making but idk I think hard politics is the one place she wouldn’t turn as much as people think. She can advocate for this issue or that but she can’t sustain that and approvals bc her brand is to be apolitical, by and large. She doesn’t even really do feminism in her music like Gaga or Beyoncé do and that’s low hanging fruit!

Exaaactly. She's the word "vanilla" personified :spin:

Idk much about Grimes but she has to be taking the piss here 'cause a Taylor styled candidate would only run up numbers with the "ignore everything, pretend it's all fine" crowd...and they don't even vote :ladyhaha:
