So yesterday Hung Up celebrated it’s 18th birthday, and with that came a series of hit tweets celebrating the song.

Tweets:

Spoiler

This follows several of her songs (Frozen, Material Girl, Back That Up to the Beat) going viral on TikTok. This also follows The Celebration Tour becoming the 11th fastest selling concert tour in history, selling over 600,000 tickets on it’s first day, a much praised feature with The Weeknd, and the tour itself has also opened to massive critical acclaim.

For the last several years, Madonna has been something of a punching bag in the media whether it be for her age, appearance, or new music.

But with these older songs finding a lot of love from younger audiences, her streaming figures on the rise, and the media using her 40th anniversary as an opportunity to write articles about how much she matters to pop culture history, that seems to be changing.

Do you think that Madonna is finally seeing that much needed cultural reevaluation and do you think that it will continue to boost her name and legacy in the eyes of new audiences like some of her peers have experienced?

For some reason she has been forgotten as a legend the past 10 years! She really needs to take this opportunity to focus on the next album. She should stop the experimental thing with her image and music for a while.

The Wolf

The tide has been gradually shifting back in her favor for awhile now. She got tons of good exposure by working with The Weeknd, her near death experience not only reminded people that we would really miss her if she was gone and more importantly, it has seemingly grounded her and helped her find herself again. The ongoing celebration tour is continuing this wave of good luck for Madonna, everyone is talking about how good she looks and the quality of the stage, setlist and her performances. I mean, this clip alone screams ICONIC! she looks ****ing stunning. All she needs to do now, is pull off the entire tour without a hitch and drop that killer dance album she said she was wanting to make. BTW, she has been seen with Max Martin in the studio and there are rumors floating around that she might have already started working on the album

Hey, I'm king of the world, you ought to hear my song, you come on measure me, I'm twenty inches long

Long overdue. She is a living legend and if she had died you know the media and the world would be celebrating her legacy.  So glad she is alive to see this happen instead.

I think it’s a testament that she can be every icon and do everything, and still take it back to basics and remind everyone she’s still that girl.

I think after the stan wars of the late 00s and early 10s, people started waking up to other artists other than their #1 fave (me included)

that plus this current age of nostalgia that has everyone looking to the past for inspo... it's only fitting that we go back to artists like Madonna :legend:

but also... kinda makes me mad that its usually women's art that is critiqued harshly at first only for it to be praised later on when that rarely happens with men but that discussion can be saved for another time :iamfair:

people always criticize madonna so much. she’s always have been this powerful figure  with mixed reactions that also fits her narrative of being this disruptive artist. I think people are realizing that she’s one of the few contemporary with legend status that we have alive. 40Years of an amazing and creative career deserves so much respect, she’s truly one of a kind and with her recent almost death experience people realize that someday in the future her physical form is going to disappear forever. We need to celebrate her and support her, she’s and incredible and talented performer, and the gays we always going to love her.

and also people are loving that she’s looking physically like herself, her face n stuff.
