So, this style of singing has been around since the mid 00s i'd say, but absolutely sky-rocketed last decade due to thehe Lana's, Halseys, Lordes, Jessie Rs, Sias etc of the music world. This technique is pretty much here to stay for the long run.

It got me thinking do you think Gaga would ever attempt this technique? We all know she's quite the chameleon when it comes to experimenting with her vocals. I think the closest she ever got to it was on ASIB soundtrack.

Examples of the cursive singing aja "indie avocado voice" below incase you're still not sure -

All I have to say is that from my experience, singers (such as Halsey and Lana) have actively grown away from this technique, not because they were tired of the “style,” but because they actually learned how to sing.

I’m not sure why Gaga, who’s been known for her strong and clear vocals since, well, forever (dating back to Red and Blue) would want to sound anything like that last video.

this isn’t ‘cursive’ singing - this is the ‘im an indie girlie’ voice

Cursive singing refers to just good ear training and good velocity between intervals

I’ve only ever heard cursive singing used to describe the exaggerated vowel shapes + baby voice technique being shown here.

just think about what cursive writing is. words are pretty and connected. Mariah Carey and Ariana Grande sing in cursive. This is just a basic indie vocal that everyone uses for some reason

That’s not what it means. :laughga: look up Grace VanderWhaal, that’s what cursive singing is.

I think artists tend to stick to their brand/the voice they have so no

You'd be surprised. Even Olivia Rodeigo has adapted to this style and originally her voice was more Xtina, Jessie J sounding

Yeah, but what I’m saying is: it looks like you made up that definition, as I can’t find a single source that uses the term in that way. The term you’re looking for, if you’re trying to describe singing that flows, would be singing legato.
