StrawberryBlond 15,555
I can only imagine what would happen if these protestors had disrupted say...Beyonce's concert. And caused the stadium to be evacuated. And have the rest of the performance cancelled. There would be BLOOD. There's a reason why they've disrupted so many sporting and entertainment public events but they won't dare encroach on concerts by major artists with devoted stans who have paid top dollar for a once in a lifetime performance by their fave. They would be doxxed so fast their feet wouldn't touch the ground. Not supporting doxxing, just pointing out that this is the kinda stuff that some people will do if you piss them off enough. And I wish these protestors would realise that annoying the public doesn't change anything as the public are powerless to stop this. If they want to disrupt anyone's lives, it should be the politicians. But blocking roads when people need to get to work, throwing food around that someone has to clean up, halting performances that can't be refunded? Miss me with that. Once, they blocked a road which delayed an ambulance carrying a woman who'd suffered a stroke and by the time she eventually got there, she'd suffered debilitating effects and the doctors said unquestionably that if she'd got to the hospital sooner, she could have been spared all that. One of the protestors was interviewed on tv about it and even when asked "how would you feel if that was your mother?" she couldn't show an ounce of empathy or shame. You've got a right to speak your message but no one will be on your side if you bother them. It's not a case of they're just going to wear us down until we give in to their demands. Someone annoys you enough, you'll just want them removed from society.

Ive noticed the biggest SJWs or most self righteous ppl around that think they are so moraly superior to everyone else have a tendency to be rather cold and lacking basic empathy... although ive seen exeptions to that rule, it seems to be the tendency. Its almost like the 2 or 3 moral subjects they are obsessed with preaching take so much space in their mind, they are completely unable to think about other important morality and nuances outside their immediate tunnel vision Others may be sh*tty ppl overall in other ways and subconsciously acting mightier than thow in some specfic social issues makes them feel like better ppl over all, i dont know Of course these viral examples like on OP are the most extreme of the extreme examples. And who knows how legit they are. I wouldnt be shocked if some theories about them actually being supported by lobbiests to discredit environmentalists turned out to be true who the hell knows anymore. Tho at this time theres no proof of that, just suspicions
TEANUS 16,140
Funniest thing about going against oil/ fossil fuels production in 2023 unless you’re truly living a homestead, off the grid life or something - how are you truly going to live your life normally without it? Like do these people not drive? And if they have EV’s do they know where the vaaaaast majority of electricity is still coming from? The idea of everything being electric is great for the climate in theory until you realize how many reasons why that’s not remotely feasible yet. Tyler1992 2,340
I LOATHE when they do things like this to every day people, it’s just low hanging fruit. Majority of the public are on the same side of climate change, but recycling, public transit, going vegan etc. only take an individual so far. It’s up to corporations and the government. No ones going to support your cause if they hate you. I am very suspect that they are intentionally doing this to turn people off from climate activism. I mean, they make me want to roll coal out of spite.

Helxig 45,326
1. Why there of all places? 2. These disruptive performances only make people hate them and bring no positive attention to their cause or incite any change. If anything, people will be pissed off and refuse to listen to anything this group has to say. They're probably harming the cause more than helping I bet they sit around in their little dungeons jerking each other off over how righteous they are and better than everyone else I'll be myself until they fūcking close the coffin. Other fossil fuels especially Coal are still a bigger issue and more easily switchable Theres also methane from farming practices which is huge and somehow gets little to no attention despite by some estimates being resppnsible for as much as 1/3 of global warming (methane is several times more potent at trapping heat than CO2 so this is not surprising) The idea that the big link to climate change is oil and that if u replace that ur good is just plain false. Its a piece of the puzzle yes but hardly the holy grail its made out to be

They haven't done their research, are ill informed, but they want to disturb others as much as possible they can feel 'better than' and more righteous and holier than thou. It's stroking their own and each others egos for something actions that are disruptive and negative and don't even help their cause I'll be myself until they fūcking close the coffin. Emvee 8,823
These are starting to feel like psyops to make people hate climate change activists Or are climate activists just really this cringey? How about instead of creating these spectacles that do nothing to change the existing power structures, you put all that energy and nerve into activating voters to get rid of politicians who support and legislate for the fossil fuel industry?
