Reject False Icons 4,751
It would be easier to leave her in the back with all the last decade pop stars but literally there are none new generation pop girlies as exciting as them like is there any pop girly who gives their 1000% on visuals, choreos, album concepts and well though marketing strategies, they all deflate in less than one album Dua was the last one with a full exciting era in the last 5 years

Juanjo 2,064
I admire her as an artist, so the wait between solo music doesn’t affect me. I am extremely proud of her for what she has accomplished as a multifaceted talent.

Her social media is splattered constantly with Haus Labs ads, she shilled for a pharmaceutical company, has been pushing a Don Perignon campaign for ages, and uses any milestone or anniversary as an excuse to push out super expensive but low quality merchandise. This site criticizes the likes of Taylor and Beyonce for their supposed money hungriness, meanwhile praise Gaga for being a business woman? What she has been doing recently is no different. 2. She is very much losing touch with her audience, and it’s very much by design. She is making these moves to endear herself to an audience that once rejected her and to her credit it’s worked well for her, but it’s also been a very alienating experience for many of her actual fans. Jazz and Piano sure attracts some fans to come and see it but with these tickets being so ridiculously expensive and with the show being promoted the way that it is, it’s not a secret who she’s really aiming at with it. It’s not a secret who she’s aiming at with her brand deals. It’s not a secret who she’s aiming at with her film career. I’m proud of her. Super proud of her for what she’s accomplished. But I also am well aware that I’m not who she really cares about getting notices from right now. In her pursuit for more respect from the general public, she’s actively—if accidentally—pushed a lot of people that’ve been there from the beginning out. 1. Whether she means to or not, so much of what she does these days comes off as her being hyper aware of how the world perceives her, and it leaves a bad taste in a lot of long time fan’s mouths because everything has become so calculated and safe. And I have to be really honest when I say it makes the message she based the first part of her career off of a little hard to take seriously these days. She has moments now where that fearlessness returns but it’s so often quickly undercut by calculated moves that pander to an audience that she knows won’t embrace her unless she steps back from that. Artists grow up and they change and I completely get that. But Lady Gaga the artist has in the last few years really shifted into Lady Gaga the celebrity and Lady Gaga the brand and it feels really at odds with what she used to be about. She cares a lot about getting that GP respect and in her quest for it, she’s knowingly made the choice to sacrifice a lot of what endeared her to her OG audience to start with. I love Gaga, I truly do. I wanted to see her on tour but sadly couldn’t make it. I buy the albums. I go see her movies. I listen to what she puts out. But in these last few years, she’s changed a lot and not in ways that I see as totally positive. Unfortunately, she’s kinda phased into a part of her career where she is just kind of another celebrity. She more openly and more aggressively than ever is bag chasing, she’s more openly turning her attention away from her audience to court a whole new one, and so much of it has felt wrong to so many of her fans. We love her, and us pointing these things out doesn’t take that love away. We point these things out and criticize her because we love her. It’s not about the long waits between albums. It’s about what has happened in between.
Starmie25 17,492
I am not a fan of make-up, but that's ok. She's clearly passionate about it and clearly other people are too. And GaGae is allowed to have other interests outside of music lol. Fans can have opinions that's fine, but when some get very bitter and insecure is when it turns toxic. Anyways, Joker and TCB 2.0 are going to be lit.

Imagine having such a narrow minded view of her talent and only appreciating her pop songs. That is so sad to me. She has grown so far beyond just pop music and it's truly been such a pleasure seeing each new side of her. She is so great and I am in awe of how well rounded she is. She is doing things her own way and its so refreshing. No one else can compare. I literally cannot think of another performance artist who has such a well developed portfolio of work where literally everything has been good. It’s about what has happened in between. With all due respect, how old are you? Are you old enough to look back at your own life at 19 years old and realize that you were a child back then and almost everything you did in your 20s was completely different than how you are now? Gaga has grown up. Simple as that. She has evolved into a mature woman who finally now seems to be at peace mentally, who seems to have figured out exactly who she wants to be and how she wants to live her life going forward. We have to all look back on her early career with 20/20 hindsight and realize she was NOT WELL back then. She was avoiding processing trauma. She was using drugs and alcohol as coping mechanisms. She was experimenting with her persona and literally being someone else. No matter how much she says she wasn't, and that she was always being herself, we know that's not true. She was hurting. She was clinging to her fans to guve her the validation she needed to keep going. She was using art as an escape. And she is brilliant at what she does, so it came off convincingly. But she has largely stepped away from that side of herself and stopped trying to prove something. She doesn't need to do that anymore. When I think about her career that way, I am so happy that she is the way she is now because it means she is healing and moving forward. It has to be hard for her to mentally go back to that time when her life was so chaotic. She wants peace, I think, while she continues to pursue what she loves to do. There is nothing wrong with that. Real fans should want what is best for her, not for them. The ads are all just par for the course. Endorsement deals pay the bills when you are famous. It's easy money and everyone with clout does it. Why the heck would she then down any opportunity to promote a product she believes in? I find her endorsement deals to be classy and reflective of who she is. We know she likes fancy things. So what? You don't need to be able to afford a Tudor watch or a bottle of Dom Perignon to be her fan. You don't need to take Nurtec for your migraines. But lots of people WILL buy things she promotes because they can. And that's cool too. As for Vegas, in America, it's a super common travel destination and the tickets are quite affordable to a large number of people here. You see all types of people at the Jazz and Piano show. It's absolutely a show for everyone, and that's great. I feel like the majority of people there are long time Gaga fans, though. I've been to 2 shows and both times, the people sitting all around me were MASSIVE fans. At the show I was at a week ago, the people in the front row on the floor (2 rows in front of me) were an old Chinese couple. Like, SUPER OLD. Im talking late 70s/early 80s. And they were dancing and clapping THE HARDEST out of anyone around. It was inspiring. They were obviously having an amazing time. So, I'm not sure you really understand the audience at this show as well as you think you do. Gaga fans come in all ages and always have. I'm a 45 year old straight, married mom of 2 and have been a fan since day 1. I'll keep going to Vegas as long as she keeps playing there. That show is 100x better than any of her stadium shows. wahkeenasitka 1,995
Reading this post, and the comments on this thread, makes me think that there's a lot of people who don't understand what it means to grow up and no longer be in your early 20s. Gaga is now 15 years into her career. What has happened to Gaga has happened to literally every single successful musician / performer / pop star who ever was... Which is that they grow up. And become an adult. Gaga is 37. You only have a few years of meteoric explosiveness in your career - I think. It only lasts so long. Eventually your career evolves and transforms over time. Gaga has settled down into the mature phase of her career and she is in it for the long term. We can fully expect to have Gaga as an elderly lady performer when she's in her 90s. She's never going to stop. But her 20s were just a phase, and she is well past that now. I'm curious to see what she does next in her career... Looking forward to the Joker. But in general, my appetite for her diminished a long time ago. But I will always try to follow her work and keep track of what she's creating. I think you're totally right, she will never have that explosiveness like she did and not as hungry for success but that is normal. Saying that though, she has on multiple occasions said she will always make music for us and I believe her. Each era may take longer but at this point I have fully accepted her calming down as a mature artist, but I don't think the Gaga we know will ever disappear imo. numb the flame 7,321
ten years ago, I was nine. Back then I used to only listen too Gaga exclusively. Back then '08 we had TF, '09 we had TFM, '10 we had TMB (in the UK), '11 BTW, '12 BTWB, '13 ARTPOP, '14 artRAVE. We had something every ear to look forward to that was music based. These days, I'm nineteen, she has her other passion projects and I have my other artists that I Stan. I don't listen to primarily pop music anymore (LG is the exception tbh), I mostly listen to electronic (which LG mostly is) & industrial these days. Tty helps to have a full-time job and other musicians to Stan for.
