Dayman 6,138
I’d rather a 10 year wait of silence than a 3 year wait with just Haus Labs, cotton on and pharma ads. If she doesn’t want to be in a constant pop cycle that’s fine. If she wants to just act that’s fine. If she doesn’t want to share personal life ever that’s fine too. All of it is totally reasonable and respectable. But having such big downtime for release of content but consistent and constant ads is just makes me feel like she’s a billboard and not a person - which we know isn’t true. But it’s hard to fight that perception even as a long time fan when 95% of the time you only see her post or talked about when it’s another ad. and I’ll reiterate this - the ads aren’t even the problem in their own right - it’s the fact that they are her primary content for such a long period now. Without personal content/work to pad it out the perception of them and framing of them it is very different.

Most serious musicians take AT LEAST 3 years in between albums, but usually even longer. I’ve said this since I joined this forum 10 years ago: Id rather wait 10 years for a good album than her throwing out cheap, low quality music and a bunch of throwaway songs every year This. My favorite band takes 4-year breaks between albums, and for their last one it was a 6-year break because of covid. It just makes every release all the more special. And personally I've stopped waiting for Gaga to release music. When she does I'm happy, but my life doesn't depend on it.

They're the most obvious examples but there's even more. Seeing as it seems that 3 years or more is the point where fans seem to think is "too long a wait" to put out an album and considering 3 years ago was when Gaga last released an album, here's a run-down of female artists that haven't released an original studio album in the last 3 years or more... 2020 - Lady Gaga, Dua Lipa, Ariana Grande, Selena Gomez, Katy Perry, Norah Jones, Toni Braxton, Brandy, Fiona Apple, Vanessa Carlton 2019 - Madonna, FKA twigs, Celine Dion, Paloma Faith, Ciara, Tori Kelly 2018 - Cardi B, Mariah Carey, Lily Allen, Barbra Streisand, Jessie J, Macy Grey, Nicki Minaj (next one scheduled this year) 2017 - Shakira, Nelly Furtado, Fergie 2016 - Rihanna, Britney Spears, Gwen Stefani 2015 - Janet Jackson, Jazmine Sullivan, Leona Lewis 2014 - Jennifer Lopez, Azealia Banks, Cheryl Cole, Ashanti, Nicole Scherzinger 2013 - Cher And here's some who haven't made albums even further back then that: Missy Elliott, Kate Bush, Sade, Cyndi Lauper, Lauryn Hill, Annie Lennox, Tracey Chapman, Joni Mitchell, Erykah Badu, Duffy, Keri Hilson...I could go on. Gaga fans by comparison don't know the definition of a long wait. And even the males aren't as frequent as they once were. Justin Timberlake has always taken long breaks, with Man Of The Woods being released in 2018, Jay-Z has focused many on collaborations for years now with his solo release of 4:44 in 2017 and Bruno Mars' venture into Silk Sonic is the only thing breaking up the wait since his last solo album which was 24k Magic in 2016. So many of the older men in music are now relying on greatest hits, collabs and occasional singles. A consistent stream of original solo material is viewed as something for the young. We should consider ourselves lucky that Gaga still prioritises making music. She makes us wait 3.5 years for an album at most, gives us a new standalone song every year, she's even done jazz standard albums and remix albums. And she's done all this while acting in movies (which sometimes involve her making original music) and running a make-up empire. We've seen many singers who have dabbled into other industries before start neglecting their music careers for them, but Gaga has always remained a singer first and foremost. I also think these breaks between albums might also prepare us for when/if she gets married and has children one day.

I really dont think 3 years are necessairy tho. At least not for everyone. I gave examples of legends who literally put out albums every year. Your experience doesnt necessairily reflect an A list celeb with tones of resources at her disposal and an entire life of experience in music (i dont know what ur degree of experience is im not trying yo downplay ur talent) Personally i think theres other factors that play a bigger role in how long the gaps are between releases for artists than just music quality In Gagas case i think other projects like Joker and Haus Labs are a bigger factor. They require time and comitment TFM and BTW were considered some of the best Gaga work by fans and the releases were not far apart at all

The things is you can't generally speak for 'A List Celebs' like Gaga (who I'd personally refer to as a musician, song-writer or artist first before a celebrity.) I'm going to use Gaga as an example since you did. In what way do you know that writing takes up a small percentage of her time? In what way can you speak for any A List Celeb's writing process? I'm genuinely interested. I said that writing takes time because I am a writer, I know the ins and outs of the writing process, and am still learning. There is no true algorithm to it. It can take 1 year it can take 10, in general, speaking on what I know, it takes Time. Meaning it is not always going to be conveniently 1 year. She could have writers block she could have 10 years olds songs that are being reworked, she could have a song done in a day, she coule have a poem that has became a song. With her since we brought her up, it's mainly been quality. You kind of contradict the point you are attempting to make by saying "theres other factors that play a bigger role in how long the gaps are between releases for artists than just music quality" because that itself informs that writing, like I said, takes time. Robo Ga 15,279
The oversensitivity to “complaints” is worse than the actual complaints. This is how I see it: Lady Gaga is first and foremost a pop star / musician. Most people here started stanning her because of her music. She has not released an original solo album in 3 and a half years. Of course people are feeling impatient and possibly frustrated. THAT IS OK. It doesn’t make them horrible people!!! It doesn’t mean they are pressuring her to do something or being toxic!!! Lots of people here love to say “she’s done with pop get over it” etc whenever others express hope or optimism about new music. To me THAT is toxic and delusional. It’s like you’re actually ready to write her off as irrelevant / retired when there is NO indication that she is done with new music. She is in her businesswoman era, and not everyone is going to like that. Get over it. She is known globally first and foremost as a MUSICIAN. It’s ok for her fans to want music-related content. 🤖⚡️
