StrawberryBlond 14,331
She has dealt with previous instances of overexposure very well and has rode through scandals well and come out stronger than ever, I'll get her that. But no singer stays at the same commercial success forever and that includes the biggest names of all time. Her last few albums haven't sold as well as the albums from earlier in her career, yet no one seems to bring that up. Anti-Hero is the only #1 she's got out this album and the other singles haven't become major hits (bar initial chart positions) or broken through into the wider public consciousness. Which is odd considering how millions of people have bought tickets to her tour. So, she's already reducing in success but her tour is so popular that no one notices that. There's a reason why she's doing this tour and going above and beyond with multiple dates. Because she knows she'll never achieve this kinda success again so wants to show up and show out, making sure she has the most successful tour which will never be beaten. This is the kinda achievement which no other career highlight can even come close to beating. So, once this tour is done, it won't matter if she never has a hit again (which she will, of course) because she'll have had the most amazing career high that no other singer has ever come close to achieving and that will keep her rich and respected for the rest of her life. From here on out, she could, in theory, stop putting out albums every 2 years and just be a whole lot more private and chilled out, which would mitigate all the overexposure the last few years have done. Judging by the lyrics she wrote on The Lucky One, it sounds like it's her plan to one day massively step back from the industry and leave that whole crazy life. I have a hard time believing that she would ultimately ever do that as she seems to enjoy being famous too much but who knows?
Taylucifer 5,082
she is getting close for sure, every time she moves I wonder if this will be the moment, although I suspect she will stop being so public after 1989 TV The Tortured Poets Department is out NOW
tylerjs 5,578
Nah she’s solidified her place in pop culture for the rest of her life tbh. She also is so universally palatable for most of the GP that no one really thinks too critically of her to run that risk. Gaga’s course was much more tumultuous and overexposure only hurt her bc the truth is she isn’t for everyone, and definitely was not easily palatable for most of the GP at her most exposed. Taylor on the other hand has very little noteworthy controversy that the GP cares about, her music is very digestible and widely tolerable/enjoyed, and her overall image is highly relatable and socially “normal”. As another user said, she’s basically immune at this point. 🇨🇺🇧🇸 monica from rhoslc kinda had a point
PopReaper 2,231
If it hasn't happened yet I don't think it will. I think, just in general, with the process of music consumption becoming more individualized through streaming, the internet and the decline of television and radio as the main vehicles for the discovery and enjoyment of music, the minimum level of ubiquity that an artist needs to achieve in order to become overexposed becomes higher and higher. As huge as Taylor Swift is, it is totally possible to ignore her music if you want to, and her presence in your life will limit itself to news about her maybe popping up every once in a while on your social media feed (and even then you could block her name on those websites as well if you wanted to), which helps make it tolerable if you don't care for her and therefore avoids the possible backlash from overexposure, which is usually led by people who aren't fans of the work. That wasn't really the case back in the MTV and radio days where the curation of the music you listened to was predominantly handled by other people/media companies (so, if you didn't like Madonna or Michael, well, good luck). Fun Fact: The K in KPop stands for "Kate Bush"
MonsterofFame 1,780
Taylor has now reached levels of publicity and exposure that is on the level of Michael Jackson and The Beatles. It's unbelievable. What's more unbelievable is that the reception from NFL fans is almost all positive. Very surprising from a fanbase that likes to keep it a boys' club. And Taylor isn't exactly known for her sex appeal either, so this makes it even more of an accomplishment.

I think because NFL fans are very patriotic and proud of that, she is the living dream for white Christian Americans and I think that connects well with both groups. TheOriginalOne 9,929
Not at all. She seems like a very smart and calculated person and I think if she was gonna be “overexposed” it would have happened by now. Her “flop” era was still way bigger than many others’ “peak” eras, meaning people were still checking for her then. There doesn’t seem to be such a thing as “overexposed” when it comes to ms swift in the eyes of the general public.
