Can we really count riri as an hip-hop/ r&b act? Her set had a lot of pop and dance too.

Tbh I think they kinda used all the "big enough for the SB" popstars aside Taylor and at this point... And Pink if we count her as a popstar.

She has loads of rnb hip hop songs pretty much all of her recent releases, even Wikipedia classifies her as such.

He has a discography chalk full of hits and is a good live performer. It does feel like a nonevent because he is no longer relevant but he is good for a throwback. I just think he would have been better co headlining with a fellow throwback artist from his time like maybe Usher and Alicia Keys together or something like that splitting the time between them and then coming together for their hit collab "My Boo" from back in the day. That would make more sense then him just headlining it as a solo act when Shakira and J.Lo who are way more relevant had to co headline....it's weird.

The Weekend is definitely a RnB-Pop hybrid, he’s said so. Rihanna is too

Don't get me wrong, he is a good performer, but I do feel he will need at least one guest performer if this halftime show is going to gain any real traction.

it better be Jason Derulo

Miley deserved imo, she had the biggest song of the year along with SZA. I wonder if they offered her it but she turned it down, she said she wants a break. Taylor allegedly turned it down. Imo if they’re doing a throwback to a couple decades ago they should have done pink + Christina + mya + lil Kim for a lady marmalade too, maybe other 00s acts.

it's unlikely that they asked any female singer after Rihanna headlined last year.

Odd, they’ve had no problem doing male acts for multiple years, up to 7 years in a row.
